Nah.
858 is, by itself, terrible enough.
Doing this would not only not solve 53's problem, but would also dig 858's grave deeper.

Ok, 53B/M seems frivolous...
Either introduce 53e from Sgoon Ctrl to Changi Airport/CGA to Sgoon Ctrl during weekdays peak hours or a new suppliment service from Hgdep to CGA using 53 route from Tampines Rd all the way to Airport
Local PTOs too slow to react, add on PTC, LTA all e red tape n arra's MP publicity and cameos, it will be a while.
KMB came up with 101X to alleviate 101 loading.
New service 290 has an express vers 290A
If there is a new svc to do PSR to CGA, it would use Dr 3 instead of Dr 1.
What about Route 24? How is it?

Thats why I said... LTA still living in the 80s... And refusing to do something about their "Great Wall of China" routes... Just ytd i waited >30 mins for two bus 5 to come at Simei Stn towards PSR... These routes are still not gonna work in the long term...
So the best way is to address the routes themselves... By making sure that there isnt too much a reliance on too many sectors on one single route...
In today's fast-paced society, it should no longer be a "one-service-fits-all" solution towards bus svc, but rather to seek for alternatives and attempt to use the element of CHOICE to displace the weight on heavily utilised train lines and long bus routes...
P.s. 290A is not the faster version. It is introduced together with 290 and passes through heavily-disputed ç§€é † areas so that 290 can eventually become express, to shut the Sai Kung and KT council members up.
election is coming look at the north east where WP is on. i think it time to install opposition party to one of the GRC nearby. So the LTA will wake up like it is in north east to have more proper bus services in the east

Hi mr wsy1234, this is a bus forum. Please leave politics out of this. Do not link whatever issue to politics. Thanks.

Sound like the sleeping driver needs more than a slap, must as well pull him out.
The level of flip-flopping is damn too high.

Says the member who subtlely brings in politics.
I hear 53 is doing quite okay from a friend living in Pasir Ris.. Was out for drinks yesterday and mentioned to him coz he lives on the end of Pasir Ris Dr 1 towards Tampines side... And he takes sv 53 often to Pasir Ris Central or Loyang Ave though not to CGA..
Here is what he said:
-- It takes around 8 mins to Pasir Ris Central, and around 18-20 mins to Loyang Ave... so was saying he thinks you would be at CGA in 30 mins (during peak).
-- He said it is irritating bcoz there are many stops, but not that it takes 40 mins to cross entire Pasir Ris.
-- Frequency he said is quite okay though he does admit sometimes it takes 14-15 mins for bus to come, but he has not faced an issue with boarding even when bus is late, but says it is maybe coz it is first stop along dr 1.
bus 24's demand also quite high leh esp the stretch from amk to bedok stretch

You, my friend, has your answers to your own questions with what I underlined in bold from your friend's words. Although, his words are not all crap either.
I didn't quite understand by your words of "around 18-20mins to Loyang Ave". You said he's on the side of PSR Dr 1 closer to Tampines, which would put him closer to Loyang Ave right? But idk which starting point are you / he referring to for that statement of "around 18-20mins to Loyang Ave"...I'm assuming that you / he is mentioning in the context of taking 18-20mins to Loyang Ave from the Dr 1 bus stop outside PSR MRT?
My stop is the one after that on PSR Dr 1 (78051 & 78059). There's usually a few seats & standing space left after the bus exits the expressway and onto Loyang Ave and even after your friend's stop (98091).
The fact that your friend doesn't experience much troubles taking a Sv 53 from that first stop of PSR Dr 1 to PSR Central, is also because of the existence of downroutes from the expressway during Peak hours. I think you might have forgotten about those downroutes / not aware of those.
Those downroutes' first stop towards Bishan would be the Loyang Ave bus stop, after which it would be your friend's stop (98091). And because of those empty buses on downroutes, there are still seats and standing space for quite a few stops.
The people most affected are the ones waiting at the bus stops sandwiched in the middle after my stop (that would be 78061 onwards in case you dk which im referring to) towards the Meridan JC bus stops along Dr 1. This stretch of stops is probably where the woman who complained likely stays IMO.
Although admittedly, 40mins is indeed an exaggeration to cross the entire PSR Dr 1 stretch. But 20-30mins to cross the entire PSR Dr 1 is definitely quite a common thing, esp during Peak Hours (I experienced that before, multiple times).
Anyway my point is to be more rational and consider the perspectives of different people staying at different stops along the stretch of PSR Dr 1. I wouldn't even say that my views are the same as those who stay in the later part of Dr 1 towards PSR Dr 12.
The woman, while kicking up a fuss over this small matter, she did have some truth in her words from her perspective.

I think he is referring to those near IKEA...
Well its near Tampines too in a sense, and Dr 12 bus stop is also right after 53 gets off the TPE from KPE
And above all, it only makes sense for it to be there to be 18-20 mins away from Loyang (whether is true anot is open to debate)
2c
All politics are local in every country in the world... ie local issues wrt transport, livelihood
If not incumbent would not have introduced BSEP, CDS,PPSS after GE 2011 for SG.
Yes SMB128, LTA is still 2 steps slow
Ev now n then some surveyor will drop by Mountbatten Rd bus stop(Os One Amber) for a day, record sv36 loading then disappear.
Till date 36 still equally crowded, 36B comes at wrong timings, morning peak...
sv196 bunch 3 together at 0745 same bus stop, after tt 10mins apart till 0820, cluster again

hi mr dupdup77 this is something people cannot just ignore as you can see LTA and politics is always linked and the ward that the minister is in has been removed as a safeguard, it viewed as a danger ward for the ruling party. as for 53 maybe is up to the RCs to fight for a proper service to serve them. just like most north east and north HDB town. or else you won't get to see some feeder bus services just introduce like that it the RCs and MPs request for them.

Hi mr wsy1234, if thing becomes like this and goes the way you want, soon this forum and this topic will sway to talk about general election. There is a proper place for each type of topics in this forum. Please do not lump all of them together. Or else it defeats the purpose of creating separate places for separate topics. Cheers. Thanks.

Your full explanation here does not stand true because you are assuming the end to be from Loyang Ave. Sorry my mistake as Tampines end can be assumed to be both Tampines Ave 7 and Tampines Ave 10... I meant the latter... But from my explanation shouldn't you already guess that he is saying 18-20 mins to cross all of Pasir Ris Dr 1 to Loyang Ave. Hence, he finds seats and standing space even though there are no downroutes from this end.

Yea, and they think TEL will help mah...
They think a goddamned 4-car train system will help mah...
Wah this LTA simi 世界 sia, alr project 6.9 still hv the audacity to use FOUR CAR TRAINS to ply like more than a dozen different neghbourhoods...
Mark my words, one day TEL's gonna meet the same fate as 190, heavy criticisms from East Coast residents...
