SINGAPORE: After three months' of fine-tuning, an enhanced system to inform commuters of bus arrival timings has improved accuracy, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said, with 95 per cent of the estimations falling within three minutes of the actual bus arrival time.
In a news release on Thursday (Jul 16), LTA said the downloads of the MyTransport.SG app and other third-party apps using bus arrival timing data from LTA's data sharing platform, DataMall, has grown significantly. Prior to the system’s launch, the DataMall received roughly 4 million download requests a month. Today, it receives about 10 million download requests daily for bus arrival timing data, LTA said.
LTA had been refining the bus arrival information system public feedback, correlated with over 50 million data points collected daily.
The authority said there will be even better accuracy in predicting bus arrival timings when LTA's Common Bus Fleet Management system is implemented in mid-2016. It will see scheduled bus data currently provided by bus operators, centrally managed.
