Honestly, I think it is a mentality problem. 72B is just like 902, yet the DDs on 72B go with 120 pax... with full upper deck... such that when DD comes back to terminal it is pulled back to the front of the queue...

You need to realize that 169 just does not do WRI to RP... it has a lot more stops ahead... I have seen good upper decks on 169 between AMK and Springleaf, between Yishun and Seneko & Senoko and WRI...
So this is definitely not representative. Ofcourse BC needs to do a better job if students are not going to upper deck. He will not bother if the queue is light. At 1.41pm, I don't necessarily think 169 will have a very long queue.
They should operate 902 on RP exam days too other than RP school days, Cant depend on 169 though during the exam times.
i have seen full load on a 902 bendies. it is sure worse on a raining day.
169 bendies is almost emptied at its second stop.

now most of the 169's bendies have either downgraded to Rigids or slight up to DDs.
902 frequency is way better.

902 will always have full load. 169 last time also very packed when a bendy comes. At times 2 902 can come tank the load together
It's a good scenario here, that DD is not always useful for 169. This happens a few times, even without RP students boarding. So they should focus more on balancing the right fleet. Plus, it's off peak, I believe bendy buses would be better. Just leave the peak hours to the DD.
For 902, it's better for the service to run at an hour interval after 10am(i.e. 1040 1050 1055, 1240, 1250, 1255 etc.) to match the class timing. 169 commuters also find it hard to board during certain hours in the afternoon.
How to compare 902 with 72B when the distance is different? I believe for 72B, ITE students will usually head up due to the stopover at NYP.
Anyway, 171 gets DD cameo recently...but was pulled out from svc awhile later..

5 out of 11 split shifts - DD ; 6 SDs
2 out of 16 AP shifts - DD ; rest mixture of 6 Bendy, 8 SDs
902 [WLDEP]
5 SDs on AP shifts + 3 Bendy crossovers.
- Current pair-up with 904 is a good choice.
- After months of TE1 opening, if loading drops, renumber to 902A where 902 connects residents to TE1 station.

Can't have DDs for peak and bendies for off peak. Such an arrangement causes unnecessary fleet control headaches. You can't have your cake and eat it too

There's no need to enter Republic Cres, pax will mostly alight at the bus stop if they are rushing.
I don't think it's necessary also, otherwise 184A and a few more svces(if Im not wrong) wouldn't have stop operating.

I don't think Mandai road has any issues... if SMRT wants to give 171 some DDs, it can... the loading has recently increased on 171 to justify few DDs.
171 already had its DD debut so confirmed it can use DD
