Was just thinking...
Since LRTs cost so much, why not we have BRTs? Cost less, skips traffic lights and unexpected traffic conditions, and saves all the rants about bendies clogging up bus ints.
Just my two cents...
You can forget about it because the government is more pro rail than bus. A BRT system would indicate that they will more likely to build LRT instead.
In fact, many cities around the world are replacing BRTs to light rail because BRT is basically buses running on fixed tracks like a rail train.
It's better to have a wide array of bus services over an area to spread and balance out the loads and demands than have a dedicated lane of high loads using BRTs. Don't give LTA more opportunities to build more rail lines and neglect buses again.
And using guided bus systems over short stretches of busy roads to separate public bus traffic from normal traffic.
Your idea is not new. SBS brought it up in the late 1990s but LTA would rather build more MRT instead.
how do we integrate new towns' BRT systems with the rest of the country's bus network? although our current network is not perfect, BRT systems will further complicate matters
Govt would rather built a rail lines rather than BRT which need more lanes and stops.
BRT ??? draw more bus lane and maybe have a bus lane tunnel build to skip key traffic light inter section junction. should be like BRT. but still i think compare to LRT to BRT still a BRT system will better.
I dont favour LRTs..For me just an ordinary MRTs and bus service os more viable
Both buses and LRTs can have very high frequency (less than 1 min interval), current MRTs can only have an interval of 2 mins at max (1min 40 sec with the improved system). BRTs or LRTs should only serve a specific area much like the feeders while the MRT should bridge these areas as the trunks.

ah?
BRT no need interchange/termination points? BCs/SLs can run 24/7? BRT can have their system controls and have more priority than other traffic users.
Bendies clogging up bus interchange, so Double Deckers and Rigids do not?

Compared to LRT... Cheaper...
And the clogging up is not I say one hor... Is got some here come kpkb abt how bendies cause places like Woodlands to jam up...
To clarify ah, the BRT i'm talking abt is like the one in Xiamen and KL Sunway... Those that run on viaduct and have stations, just like LRT
But cheaper and more sustainable... And since LTA hates the LRT here's an idea! (Yay?)

every cents counts.
maybe someone here drove cars, then come here kpkb about the bendies.

APMs are not meant for Light Rails of this extent to serve a small town, much less the size of Sengkang and Punggol.
The stops for the BRT could be as close as 200-300m to the next stop. Each BRT could have 1-2 depots that link up with the regular roads and its dedicated network of roads.

Since when did I ever bring up APMs?!

Sorry I dont get your first para

APMs used for the BPLRT was why LTA didn't want a LRT system. It is still unreliable till now. APMs are used for transit within airport terminals where it is less complex. APMs are not suitable for this purpose as a "feeder" to a small town with a hilly terrain.

Not really...
Miami Metromover uses the exact same trains as BPLRT to operate its entire system, which has three lines covering the downtown area of Miami.
Take it to another level, and you have the Yirukamome in Tokyo that uses the trains that we call Crystal Mover here, only that it's in EMU style.
You see, APMs are used when there is a need to shuttle passengers quickly, but without the demand needed to build conventional rail lines. This is why LRTs are built: to allow faster travel for residents to connect to the MRT, or to get to town centre.
LRTs arent a bad thing actually, but many, including me myself, thinks that LTA no longer wants to build them anymore.

Not drivers,But SBST and Private bus drivers also kpkb and not all bendy drivers are that skillful,Some are just plain ignorant and selfish!

But in the long run, DDs on feeders and intratowns are still not the way to go what...
Also not like adding fleet would help coz all it would cause is more pollution and congestion... (Unless SG finally starts using Electric buses)
I personally favour the LRT, really useful and practical... It's like bendies, only that it doesnt clog roads and waste depot space. Much more pax-friendly than DDs too in terms of intra-town travel
But if it doesnt work out due to operational and system costs, why not use BRTs? It's exactly the same, only that they are buses driven by man. But again, the drivers you save on feeders should be able to justify right?
Maybe one problem of BRT is human error as I understand that driving in circles all day everyday can really drive one crazy instead. So hopefully there could be a way out for this, or perhaps a better alt to BRTs, but would not require pax to experience hell on DDs?

How come got people saying that some drivers park their DD as if they are bendies?
Huh?Whats that?
