170 can be amended to serve CCK Rd, CCK Way, CCK Ave 4, CCK Dr (express) and KJE instead of Woodlands Rd between Junction 10 and KJE.
Then 66 can be amended to serve 67's route from Serangoon Rd to Tampines. (65 and DTL3 can cover Serangoon Rd - Bedok Reservoir Rd and 228 can cover Bedok Reservoir Rd to Bedok Int.)
Then 67 can be withdrawn.
170 could be diverted via Turf Club Avenue, BKE, PIE and Stevens Road.
170A could be withdrawn.

66 is already very long though. Anyway LTA would probably focus on DTL2 rationalisation first, likely 171 and maybe 700. 66 and 67 may be shortened or split, but some time later when DTL3 loading has stabilized.
DTL 2 Rationalisation (mostly services along Upper Bukit Timah, Bukit Timah corridor)
67 - Tampines Interchange >> Newton Circus (loop)
987 - CCK Interchange >> Queens Street Terminal
171 - Yishun Interchange >> Bukit Panjang MRT (loop)
178 - Woodlands Interchange >> Bukit Batok Interchange (49 & 66 compensate)
258 - Boon Lay Interchange >> AYE (loop)
170 - Bukit Panjang Interchange >> Larkin
960 - No change
700 - No change (extra stop at Mile Ten Junction)
961 - No change
852 - Terminated
174 - diverted via 852/178 road.
190 / 972 - No change

I feel that among 190, 700, 960 and 972, at least one of these services will be rationalised. I don't think LTA is so generous to maintain all 4 services which are running parallel to one another and to DTL2.

Given the problem the old MRT system are facing it is best not to touch any of the services at all 190,700,960,972.

DTL2 isn't exactly old.
Having many services in parallel is quite an overkill so it's justified to rationalise them to some extent.

The NEL is older but there are no services like 190/700/960/972 connecting Punggol/Sengkang/Hougang and downtown.
The EWL is even older but there are no services like 190/700/960/972 connecting Jurong and downtown. (There is 502, but the portion between Jurong West and Toh Guan is painfully long and can take longer than the portion from Toh Guan to Orchard).
The NSL is the oldest but there are no services like 190/700/960/972 connecting Sembawang/Yishun/AMK and downtown except 857.
Bukit Panjang residents should realise that they are very lucky to have 190/700/960/972 + 966. Now that the DTL2 is operational, it is time to shift some duplicated resources to other regions of Singapore with poorer connectivity.

NEL, EWL and NSL all have 6-carriage trains while DTL only has 3.
Although it can be argued that DTL has lower overall ridership as compared to the old lines as it serves less estates.

Then Bukit Batok residents will lose 852 as they take 852 to Yishun, Ang Mo Kio
852 CRL open then lose
I'm thinking that 171 might start from Bt Panjang ITH and loop at Yishun instead. Its non-stop sector along Jelebu Road could be a precursor for its route amendment to BPITH via Petir Road. Having 171 loop at Yishun will also free up parking space at the future Yishun ITH to support more Yishun services since the town is still expanding.

BPJ ITH is so small that it already cannot accommodate all BPJ bus park services... And yet you want 171 there?

I may agree that the ITH cannot accommodate all services, but it seems to me that it can actually take one more service (even taking into account the fact that 979M is still in there)...I was particularly surprised as to why a total of 3 services did not go back to the interchange.

If need be, 171 can terminate at BPJ temporary bus park.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:If need be, 171 can terminate at BPJ temporary bus park.
Then it would lose its direct link to BPJ MRT ... unless we wait for exit C to be ready.

(Route from Yishun)
Bukit Panjang Road
Upper Bukit Timah Road
Petir Road
Off service via
Jelebu Road
Bukit Panjang Ring Road
Senja Road
Senja Way
If 171 is shortened, it can simply make a loop around Bukit Panjang by turning left from Upp Bukit Timah Rd into Petir Rd.
Alternatively it can merge with 180.

CANNOT MERGE WITH 180 !!!
The two services are simply incompatible in terms of fleet / demand / frequency.
The new pair of bus stops along Ave 2 will sure create a chaos.
The new Loyang bus stops(Towards Ave 7) already got cases near accidents,Vehicles reluctant to give way to buses keeping centre/right lane during peak hours.LTA love to built bus stops at bottleneck lanes/near turning areas/near shopping centre entrance/exits without thinking how selfish our motorists attitude is.

180 got their demands la,Wont be merge dont worry,They only will amend/merge/withdrawal whichever svc dont have satisfactory loadings.
Out of topic: I was at Mattar Stn yesterday waiting to play some kind of doodling game. However, some of the others and I were already late as the booth was closing and we just wanted goodies, so the moment all the goodies were given out without us playing, we fought with one another over them and I ended up getting most of them, with some of them I threw them to the floor forcing others to collect themselves. It was like using our 'claws' to collect as much as we can 😂😂😂
I know yesterday I was really kiasu, but I feel like I 'needed' to be 1 for some reason

So much for world class transport.

That’s a sign of more future breakdowns la..Heard maintenance for MRT is all cut cost style.
