at least they also help to complement the shuttle buses when they are super crowded also, at least that was what happened when I got stuck in AMK in the worst MRT breakdown last year & tbh there are more breakdowns now than ever
anyway this is my opinion. no fighting here, cos when we fight my smiley emoji turns upside down, so yep chill :)

u dont say. u see how many people got stranded yesterday at Bishan
Do not touch any bus service unless there is a strong case for rationalisation. Otherwise end up like NEL rationalisation until they had to undo some of them.

The chaos starts with AMK not BSH. However, we cannot do without buses nor have express trains.
exactly. however my point is that Bishan literally flowed to the concourse level, but not where tbe prob started

Well a company led by a paradropped paper general.
171 and 700 may be affected. When Gali Batu depot is ready 171 could terminate there while its city-bound leg gets covered by DTL and other bus routes. 700 may be axed and its fleet divided up by 190 and 972.
If 171 gets truncated, 67 can be used as cover from Cashew MRT to MCT, with the LTI-TAM leg of the latter incorporated into 65, as there is already 66 between Bedok Reservoir and LTI. In fact, 66 makes the perfect DTL anchor as it runs parallel to the train line from Beauty World to Bedok Reservoir, just like 2 with respect to EWL and 147 with respect to NEL.

171 and 700 can only be affected if and when, "Central Singapore Bus Rationalisation" could happen like London Buses consultation. 73 and 390 has been taking an example to this.
170 via Bt Panjang Rd, BKE, PIE, Stevens Rd, Bt Timah Rd since no one might be stopping. But this might duplicate service 960.
Whereas 700 has more double deckers and 171 has no double deckers on its fleet.
Also DTL may kill off CT18 when stage III opens for business.

True. If that happens, the last would be CT8. But wouldnt it be weird if it is the only CT service? Like will LTA decide to renumber it in any case?

You must realised that the NSL isnt a new line..It's older than most of you..

CT18 will become weekend-only service after 2019. You must realise that CT8 and CT18 were kept because of the popularity with the residents.
haha talk bout those people born in the 80s who already have transport jobs
there will be a DTL rationalization after DTL3 is active. Expect it to be Q1 2018 once DTL3 is set.

That is inevitable.
But then again, nothing happened due to CCL.

CCL didn't really impact too many services directly. due to its circular route, the duplication with services was not as heavy compared to DTL2/3 that completely duplicates many services along the Bukit Timah and Serangoon-Tampines corridor.
So which service do you think will be affected?

CCL only impact service 93 by becoming only single decker route.
Their loading impact is quite volatile these days.
74, 154, 165 has been carrying lesser passengers nowadays.

74, 154 are affected because of DTL2.
93, 165 got affected because of CCL.
As you said 93 became full fleet SD with reduced frequency. 165 also ceased to have any further fleet add, upgrades.

67?

67 gets some of its heaviest loadings on the Tampines - Little India section (even with 23 as a point-to-point alternative), don't think that will be changed anytime soon. The most that can happen is a split-up to cater to the load difference on east/west side.
171 is likely to be split / truncated, more so than 67.
Whether 700 is affected is most likely dependent on 171's rationalisation (esp due to the shared Dunearn - Newton - Orchard sector). If 171's CBD section is axed, high chance that 700 will remain.
On a sidenote, 973 could be merged into 75 and 970 (with 970 doing the Dairy Farm Rd section, and 75 the Hume Ave section).
Mods, please rename this thread to 'DTL rationalisation speculations'. DTL3 is opening soon.
but ah if DTL also breaking as often as NSEWL, then people will complain about all the rationalisations here. 128 and 162M duplicates NSL, 147 duplicates EWL and NEL. 171 hasn't kena the chopper yet, although the loading after Bukit Panjang is cmi.
