Hi mr lemon1974, that someone is me. Sorry my earlier sentence post was not right. What I mean it looks good to trim 88 to terminate at Ang mo kio only. Nothing to do with 860. 860 is basically an yishun service and is not feasible to extend to toa payoh. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr sbs6750E, 860 is basically an yishun service. Will not be extended. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr sbs6750E, I interpret the 88 cut short wrongly. I don't mean to combine with 860. As usual, you know my style. 860 is yishun service and should not be extended until toa payoh. 88 can cut short but another service must cover the lost sector from Ang mo kio to toa payoh. Cheers. Thanks.

With LTA anything is possible and 860 is a trunk service not feeder
Hi carbikebus, how legit is this info? I think it's quite unlikely cause 88 between Toa Payoh and AMK is already about 7km, 860 is 10.3km (so one way about 5km), the combined route would be around 20km, close to 88's current length of 24km. So if this move is to reduce bunching it won't be very helpful.

LTA/TransitLink make the executive decisions now, operators no more say.
If 88 shortened to AMK I think it is better off in Seletar contract, otherwise it is another orphan route like 61 & 117.
Originally posted by carbikebus:All these plannings make my head spin around sial,Instead of shortening svc like 14,51,61 they got plan to cut short 88...Seriously i dont find any logic at all.So if 88 cut short to AMK,The route become PSR-AMK and give to GA in exchange for svc 68?
14 & 51 were the result of route mergers. 61 & 67 are another story. These 4 routes should fall under 2 or more contract areas like Transperth Routes 950 (Path Transit-Malaga/Tower Transit-Shenton Park), 960 (Path Transit-Malaga/Path Transit-Welshpool) and 998/999 (Path Transit-Malaga/Tower Transit-Canning Vale/Transdev-Fremantle).
Consultative Changes
23 to become Jurong East -> Temasek Polytechnic.
46 to loop at Tampines Street 45 to enhance connectivity for DTL3.
171 to shorten to Jalan Anak Bukit (loop).
700 to divert via Paterson Road and Grange Road.

Only 46 and 171 sound legit.
why must touch 88? what reason?? DTL2 is far away from the route 88 in. this 88 route is key for toa payoh to amk and serangroon,HG and seng kang that mrt never reach. so many people taking it why cut to amk only not bishan?? or even extend to whampo? crazy people talking here. cut too many route from lta might be not good as MRT breakdown all people will die. instead LTA should let it be to serve people. want car free not this way. bus contract is just contract. the route should be remain. 88 is a profit money making route for LTA or SBST all this time since day one. that why many DD buses. want to any how cut bus service routes??? talk to RCs and MPs of the area first!!!!!!!!!
for some people 88 should carry them to this place Buangkok Green Medical Park and stay there for good. there is a place for those people here.
Those talk about DTL don't forget TEL coming. but whatever line 88 not affected look at the map please.

159 or 163 should be not 88

The other change is 135 cut short to Sims Place, not going Marine Parade/Siglap anymore from sometime in 2017. Again not related to DTL rationalization.
Just seems there will be an overall remapping/rationalization of bus services.
more like the TEL than DTL2

agree 101%. There is a person here say 88 cut to AMK is very good.
Hi mr sbs6750E, I am afraid I am not that person. I say it LOOKS good to trim 88 to AMK. I did not say 88 cut to AMK is very good. Looks good is just a possibility but it will never be implemented. Please don't twist my words as it ends up being totally misinterpreted when read whole sentence from left to right. Moreover, I did emphasize another NEW (not existing) service must cover all the missing links if 88 is ever to be trimmed. If no replacement, 88 should not be touched. No arguments please since we are neighbours when town is concerned. Cheers. Thanks.
With new condo developments and a new school slated to open along Petir Road, doubt they will remove 700.
Rather, 700 & 960 can merge.
960 - Starts from Woodlands to Bugis Junction (Loop)
Woodlands to Petir Road
Followed by 700 / 700A 's stretch from Petir Road to NTUC Income
Turn in to Victoria Street
960's original route from Victoria Street to Woodlands Int
Lost connections covered by:
700 / 700A
- Bukit Panjang to Pending Road (Covered by 184)
- NTUC Income to Suntec City (Covered by 162M)
- NTUC Income to Shenton Way (Covered by 162)
960
- Bukit Timah Road to Bugis (Covered by 48/170/130/DTL)
- Bugis to Marina Centre (Covered by 133)

Not even TEL given the way these routes are structured. Moreover TEL in EC is only in 2024 i.e. 7-8 years from now.

So now you are okay with people making transfer if 88 is cut to AMK?

Hi mr busanalyser, any realistic amendment suggestion with an alternative is ok as from 28 nov, LTA has started not to follow its own norm. For those suggestions with no plausible alternatives for deleted sectors and trim just for the sake of trimming, still NO. However I doubt they will introduce a NEW service to cover the trimmed sectors. Cheers. Thanks.
