So ideally it should merge with 41?

Or can follow 151 route after Jln Anak Bukit and end at NUS (Kent Ridge). Yishun residents do have a hell of a time getting to NUS coz 151 doesnt have fantastic frequency or capacity.
Originally posted by iveco:Merge 700 with 983. Simple as that.
Eventually we will have 983 (CCK-Shenton Way day service), 983A (CCK-BPJ after-hours and weekend loop service) and 700 (BPJ-Suntec City after hours and weekend service).
Your suggestion of merging 983 with 171 or 700 is simply absurd. You need to understand that 983 operates as feeder between BPJ and Keat Hong, and Keat Hong and CCK. It operates at frequency of 05-06 minutes. Will the merged 983 be able to sustain such high frequency? Will there be demand for entire route? Think of the number of additional buses required, leave along bunching issues if you operate such a long route. No need for 983/983A.
700 can simply extend to CCK via Keat Hong to serve the desired part. It can terminate at Marina center to shorten the route on other end.

Don't think it will happen but not a bad suggestion to have 171 ply Jurong East - Yishun via Beauty World. The frequency of 41 is at 12-17 minutes and 171 is similar. So from frequency standpoint as well, merging will be okay.
Originally posted by Ajen:It will be a great idea. 700 extend to CCK via Keat Hong BTOs..
But looking at the space of CCK interchange..
I don't think it will happen.
especially during peak hour..the traffic could build up all the way till the cross junction of Ave 4 and CCK Loop.
I really think Yew Tee need a road side bus terminal to complement CCK int..
CCK Drive end will be a good spot for a road side bus terminal.
979 can terminate there skipping cck cresent. 302 already cover cck cresent.
The only way to have a terminal at Yew Tee is to have near Kranji Camp. There is no use having terminal at Yew Tee MRT. Kranji Camp can host 302, 979 and maybe new service to Sungei Kadut via YT MRT.
When will DTL2 rationalization start? Same as Sengkang/tampines interchange extension opening? Cheers. Thanks.

Should be Dec like every year Dec has a large number of new services introduced and most times the Dec services are quite good.
Here is my list:
171 --> Yishun Interchange <> Beauty World (loop)
67 --> Tampines Interchange <> Newton Circus (loop)
986 --> CCK Interchange <> Beauty World (loop) new service replacing sv 67 between CCK and Upper Bukit Timah road
Future rationalizations:
sv 66 once DTL3 is up (Bedok -> Newton Circus (loop), new service to replace Jurong East - Beauty World sector). sv 700 to be extended/modified. sv 961 to be replaced by another service between Lor 1 and Queensway but deleted between Woodlands and Queensway (alternative: 170, 960).

If you count minor amendments such as 170A, 173 and the introduction of 979, it has already begun last December.
Not sure if this December would bring about the more radical changes. Some services may only be adjusted together with BPJ ITH opening.

Both your amended 171 and 67 would end up to be too long though, very risky for bunching. 67 could probably terminate at Little India, St Michael or Queen St terminals. 171 would be better if amended to terminate at Jurong East, either via 41 or 66's route or simply express until Toh Guan.

I think it is a good idea to let Svc 171 to terminate at Kent Ridge...
Hmm... My speculation (If Svc 171 nv terminate at Kent Ridge)
Svc 171 - Yishun - Jalan Anak Bukit (Loop) ~ Like every one mentioned here
Svc 67 - I think they won't touch it... My feel is maybe ppl will still prefer Svc 67
Svc 66 - Return to SBST (Bedok - Rochor Canal Rd) (Loop)
Suggesstion: Can Extend Svc 41 to Little India to terminate at Queen Street...

Hi mr sbs9256X, why need return svc 66 to sbst? Super unlikely. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr TIB585L, this means the shortening of service 66 to shorten to bedok to loop at Rochor canal road will not happen unless another service replaces the other portion of service 66. Contract given out for bulim depot and bus services to tower transit does not dictate number of services to be reduced. Or else tower transit will get benefitted with less services and same pricing. I doubt govt will be so stupid. Cheers. Thanks.
The comments made by SBS9256X and TIB585L on Route 66 make me recall Route 172 being shortened to CCK and handed from SBS to Tibs on the same day, but i didn't see how that tied in with BPLRT grand opening.

Under LTA there is no such thing,Unless TT got one more depot in the East.

Most likely this will be the case. Even if logically extending 171 to replace 41 or 66 makes sense, it won't happen.
171 for sure will loop Beauty World. It is actually not that a long route, each way is 50 minutes so the total loop will be 100 mins. Many services have uni-directional runtime of 100 mins.
In future, it will be good to give 171 to TT and make it terminate at JE. 66 is given to SBST and loops at Rochor Canal.
So if 66 given to SBST and loop at Rochor Canal Rd,Then is there any replacement for Jurong East to Little India?

Intuition, amended 171will follow 173 from upper bt timah to beauty world mrt, then loop at jln anak bukit.
DTL2 Rationalisation:
Withdrawn services -
New services -
Extended services -

Isn't it the same thing I have said? :)

Don't think need JE to Little India. Can have new service cover JE - Beauty World or have 171 extend in future to JE.
For Bukit Timah - Little India sector, will be covered by modified sv 67 that will originate at Tampines and loop at Newton Circus.
I believe there will be more amendments on current svc and also a few withdrawn too. Then later standard practice by LTA,Introduce short trunk for the sake of BSEP.
171 my best bet will be Yishun looping at Petir Rd.
