SINGAPORE - Two men, aged 21 and 25, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in stealing ez-link card readers from five SMRT buses.
A total of five card readers had been reported stolen between Jan 21 and Jan 25. Bus captains discovered the readers missing before they started their shifts.
The duo were arrested on Wednesday after investigations conducted by officers from Jurong Police Division and the Public Transport Security Command.
Both men will be charged on Friday. If found guilty, they face a jail term of up to three years, or a fine, or both.

You know, there is something called "3D Printing". Use camera take pictures. Download software (eg. Autodesk 123D Catch). Create 3D model of the object. Print it out.
The 3D model will be in a single colour, not in the actual colours. If want, can own self colour using markers, etc.
Anyway, seriously. Why are people so enthusiastic about buses that they even go on to steal?
Actually, sorry if this is insensitive, considering there are many people interested about buses, the authorities can take this opportunity to open store and sell merchandise, eg. bus die-cast, mini bus plates, .... etc. It can be a source of revenue, to subsidise transport costs.
Sorry la. Maybe I am not really a bus enthusiast. I do not understand what is so fun about having parts of buses to own possession.
To me, the livery, interior colour scheme, the equipments, .... are only cosmetic.
What's more interesting about a bus is its engine. The power, the acceleration, the gears, the system, the cooling units, the..... the configuration.... because that is what a bus is about.
Let this news be a stern warning to potential trouble makers.
actually, by right, I was also wrong to go into Joo Koon Bus Interchange. but that place is already open already actually... the security is not even tight for goodness sake! Hopefully the authorities can enhance the security of the bus interchange.
I am sorry for going into Joo Koon Bus Interchange. Unless I have the permission, I will not ever again go into places before they are open to public.
One of them is Mr Tan
