I noticed we do not have a thread related to bus stops and there are many topics we could discuss here like:
1. Construction of new bus stops
2. Bus stop shelters
3. Bus stop displays
4. Proposing new bus stops
5. Relocation of bus stops
I want to talk about the bus stop display at Somerset MRT on Somerset Road. If anyone has noticed, the time indicator there is flawed. If it shows 02 or 03 mins for the bus to come, the bus is actually already at the bus stop.
For instance, when 972 came to the stop, it still showed 03 minutes on the indicator display. Even after it departed it continued to show 02 minutes and only then changed. That is very misleading. I hope they correct this as it could lead to frustration among people.
Imagine I saw a fully seated 972 come but I see 03 minutes for the next one to arrive. I will wait considering I might get a seat of my choice. In reality next one is only after 14 minutes.
many new bus stop require in tamp town to support new development.
i propose constructing of new bus stop on tamp av 9
bus stop direction tamp av 10
name - Tilliant Condo
bus stop direction tamp av 7
name - opp Trilliant condo
stop will also be closer for tampines greenleaf hdb than current stop along tamp av 9.
also will serve resident of future citylife condo.
bus service to call bus stop: 27, 168
give connection to tamp regional library and tamp mrt with stop on av 4.

can u give example.
i see similar issue to happen with dtl2 and dtl3 also. long walk to bus stop especoally station as bendemeer and stops in bedok region. even dt3 stop at tamp far from av 4 and 5. long walk .

DTL3 is not even supposed to serve Ave 5 within Tampines. And Tampines West is on Ave 4. From what I heard, the stops along Ave 4 will be shifted down to the entrance.
I don't really understand why night services have so many exclusive bus stops both in city area and other parts of suburbs including Yew Tee. If you see the pole, it only has a night service calling the stop.
can have bus stop at junction tamp av 10 and tamp av 1? good for sv 58 stop there. also many upcoming condo there.
just like punggol west way getting new bus stop as per dupdup77. tamp bound 164 go there? i think so.
but now to left and right all housing upcoming. i think peop near soo teck and field may walk there to 43/43M/119 depending where they go.
I would also like to ask LTA build another buztop along Sengkang East Drive, next to Block 178 after block 156. Bus services like 50, 62 & 85
apparently, bus stop #19021 (SP SMA) at Commonwealth Avenue West at Singapore Polytechnic will be re-built, similar to the bus stops at Clementi MRT Station.
According to an email sent to staff and students of Singapore Polytechnic, "the pedestrian gate at T1A bus stop will be closed from Sunday 10 May 2015 onwards.""The gate closure is to begin the process of redeveloping the T1A bus Stop."
Spotted new bus stops along Stadium near OCBC Acquatic Center. I hope it is a mid-haul service covering Stadium, Meyer road, Haig road. This will give access to condos/HDBs to new facilities like Kallang Wave mall and sports complex along with others like Kallang Leisure Park.
Bus stop numbering codes - specifically, the B-somethings (B01, B02, ...)
Does LTA officially uses these codes, together with the 5-digit codes? Most of the time we only see them being used by certain map publishers such as Mighty Minds.
Some of these codes can be terribly incoherent - such as the very obvious break along Woodlands Ave 7, not accurately reflected on Mighty Minds maps. Then there are those that could be better off renumbered, such as Petir Rd (B02, B02A, B02B, B02C). Dozens more of cases where bus stops opposite each other do not have consecutive codes. The AYE / Buona Vista Flyover junction has very confusing code numbering. Old CCK Rd starts numbering at B15. And how did (B61, B62) at PIE / Tuas Rd came about ...
Can svc 14, 96, 147, 156, 165, 166, 175 and 285 skip Clementi MRT bus stop towards Clementi Int? There are always traffic jams there because too many buses try to enter the bus bay, and often pax have to wait for 3-5 minutes before they can alight... These services can just go straightly to Clementi Int and let all the pax walk to Clementi MRT, it's just a matter of a few minutes and will effectively reduce the traffic jam at Commonwealth Ave West.

Hi mr array88, I don't agree. Bus stop is built to convenience people. Going by what you say, many buses have to skip bus stops near MRT and let all the people walk. This is not what public transport is aimed for. Cheers.
I propose we have bus-stops every 30 metres because of the precedence that is distance between Clementi Interchange and the MRT bus-stop.
Going by what you say, legs will no longer be needed as walking was not what was aimed for.

That aside, it seems likely that this legacy issue will have to be resolved soon because the jam is extremely bad and the taxi stand directly behind contributes also to the jam.
However, they seem to be expanding the bus-stop, who knows? Maybe they increased the size specifically for this issue (i.e. the services won't be removed).
If dupdup's strange logic applies, we may as well make the HG Int services call at the 101/72/80/87 bus-stop as well as people should not be made to wait 2 min or walk 20 metres.

Hi mr SBS2601D, let's not forget the bus stop has many other services that people need to transfer on to. This provides a seamless connection if required to. If for every reason due to crowdiness, they wish to remove bus services from bus stops to settle this issue, then many other stops all over singapore need to remove bus services. By then, road directories and bus route planners will find it absurd that the services all do not appear at certain stops. Surely this is not the way to go! Cheers.
Originally posted by Sbs6750E:Suggested to have a new bus stop along Sengkang Square outside Compass point for services 83 and 965 so they dont need to waist time at the int especially 83.
Hi mr sbs6750E, there is no much difference. Better to have sbs 83 and smrt 965 go inside sengkang interchange to pick up people. Don't forget the majority of commuters for these 2 services start at the interchange. By asking all of them to walk outside to a bus stop at sengkang square is not appropriate. Sengkang is a hub as it requires to provide seamless transfer for mrt/LRT/bus. Cheers. Thanks.

There are definitely merits to your suggestion. The only downside I see is those who want to transfer to another service. But this should be taken care of by transferring at the stop before Clementi MRT where all bus services call already.
Some services like 96 and 285 are the biggest problem makers here. There are around 70-80 pax alighting from both these services that clog the bus stop for long. Apart from this you also have sv 52, 78, 154, 183, 201, 106 that have huge number of pax alighting and boarding at this stop and keeping the stop engaged for long time.
My suggestion is even if you don't want all services to skip MRT stop before interchange, at least 96 and 285 should.

If transferring to other services is your concern, that can be addressed by people transferring at bus stop prior to Clementi MRT. Most smart people would anyway do that today, as there is high likelihood of boarding and getting a seat when many pax alight at Clementi MRT stop. So it's only an advantage and not disadvantage.
spot new bus stop junction ave 10 and ave 5 when rode sv 34
singaporeans seem to have this absolute disdain of walking for a few metres or a few minutes and because of this services such as the ones that terminate at clementi interchange yet must still call at the mrt bus stop will continue to be inefficient when there is clearly a way to bypass the clusterfuck at the bus stop.

Hi mr TIB868X, you are absolutely right. Nothing the authorities do will change Singaporeans habits. By the way, here is singapore! Cheers. Thanks.
