Hi there, this topic is about the upcoming 80 new routes that will be introduced to Sengkang, Punggol, Yishun and Choa Chu Kang. Do comment and suggest your opinion of how the new routes will be introduced to different destinations.
Just want to say that this was said by the LTA. You can view the video here http://youtu.be/2fgt6GfULgk
Don't have so many new routes la. Cheers.

Better connectivity with new bus services
Originally posted by SBS3688Y:no point setting such target. its better to intro bus routes as when necessary. or else the planners may resort to introducing redundant services just to meet targets.
Indeed. LTA will be more focused on reaching the 80-route quota rather then introducing services when and as needed with 116,120 and 141 being a good example. Even 41, 201 and 990's load is v.poor esp during off-peak hours.
And btw, this can't be discussed in the "LTA's Bus Service Enhancement Programme" thread?

Lol... there is also a thread of "New Bus Services to be introduced by LTA"
Suddenly... we are reviving a lot of topics like "Optimization of DDs" something I started 2 years back and died after few posts.

Better connectivity with new bus services
- With the additional buses, the number of new bus services will double from 40 to 80 under BSEP. Many of the new routes will be feeder routes or short trunks to serve new areas of developments in HDB towns, connecting residents to the key transport nodes like MRT stations and bus interchanges, as well as key community and commercial facilities in the neighbourhood.
- The implementation of these new routes will be coordinated with the completion of new developments. Areas with new Built-to-Order (BTO) flats such as Sengkang, Punggol, Yishun and Choa Chu Kang, will typically see more new routes, while the remaining routes will be distributed across the island to improve local connectivity. Details of these routes will be provided when ready.
- Of the 80 new bus routes, about 20 will be CDS operated by the private bus operators. Making use of the expressways, CDS offer commuters a direct connection from major HDB towns to the Central Business District (CBD). To date, seven CDS have been implemented and another three will be launched by third quarter 2014. The rest will be rolled out progressively from 2015.
- The 80 new bus routes will boost the number of bus services by 30%, from 278[1] before BSEP was implemented.
Hi mr lemon1974, yes there will be 80 new bus services. However SMB3095S initial statement of 80 new routes to sengkang, Punggol, choa Chu Kang and yishun is wrong. His statement is structurally inaccurate in that it implies all 80 services go to the 4 areas. Cheers.
Raffles Hotel bus stop might have 2 more Express svcs... 2 more empty slots have shifted between 951E & 960... Maybe with Wlands + SBW area for 952E & 953E?

We have been wishing for this for long. I think we can expect Q4 2015 once the Tampines interchange extension is open.

or Tampines-Sengkang..
If LTA implement those express service like two trip in the morning and two trips in the evening one. Think 60 route is easily achievable. Hope not these kind of services
