Untrue.
Without fail I take 858 at least twice a week. At Jln Kayu, yes around 10 pax would alight, but many will transfer to 168 which always tend to appear behind!
This was before TPE stop. Now, only 1-2 pax alight. Sometimes none at all.
For Jln Kayu, theres always 168 -> 858. Works too, anyways it's a seamless transfer at TPE and would have close to zero effects.

Jalan Kayu mainly have transfer passengers.. who want to change from one service to another... there are hardly any residents living near this bus stop.
So I agree, it makes sense for 858 to skip this stop and let pax transfer at TPE stop instead. But LTA will not want to even upset those 1-2 pax. IT is very cowardly and does not take bold, good decisions on existing services.

Either 161 or 168 will have to stop at Jalan Kayu. I prefer 161 to stop instead, rather than making 168 go down TPE bus stop, then again take detour for Jalan Kayu bus stop.
But then some might complain that the Bedok link at Jalan Kayu is lost. Does that really matter? Can these ppl not transfer at TPE stop instead?

I think there is a reason to 168 stopping at Jalan Kayu... Maybe possibly easy transfer to Svc 86 to Yio Chu Kang Road and faster way to get to AMK. Also with the companies such as ST and Apple, worker rather take bus than travel long in MRTs... JMO (Just my opinion)

From where though?
With closure of Kotaraya II terminal, sv 170X and sv 160 will both become loop services.
For sv 160, it is a very far away looping point, surely causing delays and disrupting the frequency.
Kranji should become a full fledge interchange or terminal with space for 4-5 services to start from there. I think there is enough space around MRT as well to build terminal there.
If this happens apart from 170X, can start some services like 912 from there. This will create space at WRI for more trunk services.
Waseh.. Jurong to Kotoraya not near leh. BCs sure lagi jialat leh. If jam at causeway he wan go toilet how ?

By the time SG Johor MRT finish, 170X will be axed and 160 will be chopped to a local service...

But isn't that another 10 years to start?
Maybe 10 years later, 160 amend to WL or SBW. How is the load like for 160?
I dun think cross border svc will be chopped but instead shortened to WDL-Larkin

160 load is quite okay on every bus. You also have to take into account that frequency is quite poor at 15-20 mins per bus and operating with only 13 buses. Hence, only those who HAVE to travel with 160 and don't have alternative, wait for it and take it.

i like 160 cause it's one of my fastest routes to Woodlands from Jurong..
U have not seen the weekend malaysians going home/turf club crowds. 160 would be sibei packed like 170

Do you know what the route could be?
This is my guess:
Bukit Batok Interchange
Bukit Batok East Ave 1
Bukit Batok East Ave 6 (1 new bus stop)
Bukit Batok East Ave 3
Toh Tuck Ave
Boon Lay Way
Jurong East Central
Jurong Townhall Road
Gateway Link (express)
Jurong Gateway Rd (express)
Jurong East Central
Boon Lay Way
Toh Tuck Ave
BBT East Ave 3
BBT East Ave 6
BBT East Ave 1
Bukit Batok Interchange
The press release mentioned there would be service for Jurong East and Bukit Batok. We assumed these will be two different services? Is it that this is only one service and we misinterpreted the press release?
'Coz for Jurong East service, would like to see a feeder for JE st 21 and 24... to complement sv 98...

Hi mr busanalyser, there will definitely 2 different services. Previously the press release shows 2. So if bukit batok to jurong east (loop) is 1, that means another 1 will be jurong east to somewhere else implementing maybe few weeks later? Cheers.

Believe it or not 30-40% of 160 pax dont cross to Malaysia.

I am aware. It is a very unique route.. and ppl working along industrial areas of Woodlands road as well as those who want to go to Ten Mile Junction have direct service to Phoenix, BBT areas, Jurong.
Observed most ppl are long distance travelers with most buses having 45-50 pax for sure. But frequency is very poor.

Assuming that 160 will be amended towards WL after Kranji, can 170X cope with the load (if 170X receive more buses, how much more you think it will require).
And why 170 got 45 buses total?

170X can cope with the JB load - no problem. But it could inconvenience workers along Woodlands road who live in JB. PM peak you can see quite a few workers boarding 160/170 to JB. For this, they would need to improve frequency on 170.
160 can then be routed to terminate at Woodlands North Interchange (in future). Then it will also become normal service and receive high capacity buses/BSEP.
And so the point of your previous post is kinda like foreplay for the bus fans here?
*tsk tsk*
So naughty naughty.

Hi mr samtlk, in that case, this is equivalent to no news in the first place. So you may as well keep everything quiet to yourself. Thanks for such information. Cheers.
