I am creating a new thread for the new bus services launched by LTA/PTOs including bus route extensions.
Considering we end up opening a new thread everytime a new bus service is announced, it could make sense to have all those discussions in one thread.
We can start discussion here of the 5 new services LTA is launching by end of this year. I have done some research on the areas marked out for these services that I will post here. This can give us an estimate of where these services will ply.
To start with the 5 areas mentioned are:
Loyang
Kallang
West Cost
Jurong East
Bukit Batok
Loyang might be 68?
Kallang might be Lor 1 svc 140
West Coast might be from Kent Ridge?150?
Jurong East might be 336?
Bt Batok might 942?
...
Loyang district includes:
- Loyang Industrial Estate
- Old Tampines Road
- Upper Changi North (not industrial estate though)
- Flora
* Considering this my guess is the Loyang service will be one of the two options
1. Loyang Industrial Estate South (where sv 6 does not ply)
2. Flora Dr where huge condo complexes are coming up (some already ready, some under construction). This is road parallel to Flora road
I don't see any other area in Loyang that needs bus service apart from these two. I think #2 is more likely than #1. Any other thoughts for Loyang service?
Near Lorong Opahkau i think need a bus service cause a few units of factories already been built..
Kallang area:
Tanjong Rhu
Stadium
Geylang
Upper Boon Keng
Kallang Industrial Estate
Note: Sims Place does not come in Kallang nor foes st. Wilfred/St. George's.
It was right when LTA mentioned Sv 11 for Kallang coz Tanjong Rhu falls under its jurisdiction.
This new service should be for upper Boon Keng where Sv 175 plies. Don't see any other scope. Haig road/Meyer road not part of Kallang.
Sv 4 should serve changi prison side, giving ppl options to take Sv 4 from tampines to cg prison

Isn't it already serving Changi Prison?
No new bus stops spotted along Jurong East St 24. So I am thinking are there really 5 distinct services, or are the Jurong East and West Coast services actually one service starting from Jurong East and looping at Penjuru Rd...
Would be nice to amend 37 to ply Flora Dr, but it will lost the link to Jap Sch

Hi mr array88, they announced 5 services so definitely not combined 2 areas into 1. Cheers.
Once the new services are announced one-by-one, a new thread for each service will surely appear...

Hi mr ^tamago^, i agree because it is basic human nature! Cheers.

I think they did say 5 services. But if there is a service to Penjuru road (that officially falls under West Coast district), it will have to start from JE Interchange.

Yes... we should avoid that and instead.. club all new services within one thread... all those new threads for individual bus services die after 30-40 posts and then get lost.. here we can track previous conversation on the new bus services announced.
So please help moderate. thank you.

Yes.. even I was thinking this suggestion would be good... and make 2 stops at Flora Dr... one of which is close to the Upp Changi North... so that for ppl at Japanese school it wont be more then 200-300m walk.
The other problem I site is that often ppl from sv 37 alight at Japanese school to x-over to sv 2/5. This might inconvenience them a bit by having to alight at previous stop and then walk a bit.
Dont tell me new West Coast service to Joo Koon?Who knows right?7 DDs and 4 Citaros BSEP
West Coast area:
East of Penjuru road
Teban Gardens
Pandan Gardens
West Coast Dr
Pandan Loop
West Coast Highway
West Coast Link...
* so the west coast service has to be a service within these boundaries...

Flora Dr alr have 4. Why touch 37?
37 is doing fine as it is. So are the Flora Dr residents. Not nice at all lol, please keep to practical ideas

It is indeed 5 bus services...It would be better if there are more than one service in one of the districts mentioned in the two-year report.

What he is saying is Flora DR. Flora Road has sv 4 (not dr).

I quite agree with you but what we need is more trunk services - not this petit short haul services. They are waste of resources. Big NO to PPSS. and also supplementary services, the M variant, are little benefit.
We need services that connect new towns that will reduce pressure on MRT network.

yes! something like service 50 =)

Yesss. I dont get it. Cant LTA see for themselves. Two long haul services they introduced sv 50 and sv 972 are doing super good with crowded buses and they have needed to add more buses and DDs to these services.
Compare this with mid haul services like 116, 120, 141 that they have introduced. Dont even want to mention anything about their latest disaster 324... which easily they could have extended to Seletar/Sengkang West where more ppl are coming and connected them with BGK MRT. But no! want these cheap ass small routes.

Yes; Absolutely agree with you all rgd long haul svcs.
also i agree with u all rgd the BSEP mid haul svcs which is quite a waste of resources.
but svc 324 & 386 is no choice. coz these flats are located >400m from the nearest bus-stops and the PTO are obliged to operate these money losing svc. These routes are intended to serve the residents there only with minimal resources used. thats why they picked the shortest way to the connecting Bus int/MRT stn.
