Not sure if any of you have seen the recent land parcel and HdB announcements. For me, it is very interesting to see which areas govt is developing. When I view this, I can already gauge that buses are here to stay!! In few years say 2017/2018, there will be a rehaul of bus routes to cater to new areas.
I will post in this thread the new upcoming areas and the transport (bus) needs in future to meet them.
lets look at BTO flats announced in Sep.
1. St. George's estate in Kallang
2. Buangkok Crescent
3. Buangkok Link (the roads are also changed in master plan from how it looked before in BGk)
4. Jurong West (Yung Ho road)
5. Bukit Batok (BBT west ave 6)
For (4)... Existing services 30, 98, 154, 240, 246 will share the load in future
For (2/3)... You have 101... But that will not be enough in future... And I believe there will be direct service from future BGk interchange to BGk crescent (also the nearest MRT)
For (1)... It is walking distance on Upper Serangoon rd, but I strongly feel that the new Kallang service is for st. George's estate... West and east garden HDBs that are operational and not quite close to Boon Keng... New service should already make provision to connect to future Bendemeer MRT.
For (5)... Will need a new feeder service looping as Bukit Batok road... But my gut says that Bukit Batok West town though not highly publicized May even be bigger than Tampines North and Bidadari.
For 2/3, the residents usually can walk for a short while and access 43 along Buangkok Green to access Buangkok MRT, or Serangoon MRT.
Gugu crescent need bus services
Gu Jiao Rd need both bus and MRT lines

Where is Gugu and Gu Jiao road...?

The new HDBs announced in north of BGk link and crescent are quite far from BGk green. It is further up from 101 looping point. Think 101 also in future will go further up and loop back via BGk crescent.

Somewhere near Kaplakoonji road beside Terkencit street

Kallang might get a terminal hence can close Lor 1..Or the new Kallang svc will start from Sims Pl Ter?

Kallang is getting terminal? Didn't hear of that..
I would like the new service to start from Sims Place and loop @ St. George's estate via Boon Keng MRT.
Aint too sure about Kallang Terminal but the former flats that once sit behind the MRT is good enough should they decide to replace Lor 1..Lor 1 also quite terrible if its raining.I might think the new Kallang svc should start from Sims plce is good idea, utilise the lots(5-7 lots) where 64 starts/End.
Next round of HDB development in November has Yishun st 42, 43 and 44.
I would have thought the empty plots along Yishun ring road and Yishun ave 1 would be developed. But instead they are introducing 2 new HDB complexes between Yishun ave 6 and Yishun ave 8.
This means we can expect a lot more development between these two avenues in future. Interesting to see the speed at which Yishun east is getting developed.
Interesting if 860 extend to Sembawang estates

One looping at Sembawang (859), another looping at Yishun. Nice, ah?

Sound similiar but using diff routes,860 doesnt loop at Sbw Int
I am looking at TSL and I see many of the MRT stations have no or little development around it.
Woodlands - Heavy
Springleaf - Little
Lentor - Moderate
Mayflower - Heavy
Bright Hill - Moderate
Thomson - Moderate
Caldecott - Little
Mount Pleasant - None
Stevens - Moderate
Napier - Little
Orchard Boulevard - Moderate...
** Not sure how the stations are planned... would have been better to have Sembawang road instead of Bright Hill between Yishun ave 3 and Yishun ave 5
** Is this an indication that areas around Springleaf, Mount Pleasant, Caldecott will go next for future BTO flats?
Many MRTs or not we still need buses and taxis,Not all estates areas will be 90% covered by MRT,Have to think of those who has weak legs, elderly and most of all the distance from stopping point to the houses

but my point is TSL has many stations that have sparsely populated neighbourhoods as described above. Either these are next areas going in for BTO development/condo or they expect ppl to take bus to TSL... find TSL routing very weak...
The newly extended part of sv 49 will hugely benefit the new BTO flats proposed at Yung Ho road.
Once 6.9m is up you will see almost every svc got good loadings
Originally posted by carbikebus:Once 6.9m is up you will see almost every svc got good loadings
Maybe not.. coz govt is opening up many areas for development. Loading will still spread if they do good planning. 6.9m good for our economy.
Yeah good for you but for most Singaporeans its freaking crowded,How big is our little red dot bro?Now 5.3m already crowded like shit..I dun mind if our land size is like Johor..8 million also no problem..You have to think of nature reserve(Not man made type),Road space(Far from residential) etc..I dun wanna to start flame war with you but if u think 6.9m is good then fine with you

Okay. If done properly like earlier years, should be okay. The government is opening up new areas for development that will spread the population. They need to also build a parallel CBD area - maybe Marina South will be it. And what needs to be done is create resources, work places, schools, parks, malls etc. close to where people live. This way not everyone will crowd towards CBD.

Two new land parcels up for development.
1. Corner of Yishun ave 4/Yishun ring road - commercial/industrial complex
2. Southern leg of Anchorvale crescent - residential condominium
Apart from this, there is a huge BTO project and condominium on the northern leg of Anchorvale crescent, touching TPE. Surely can expect 371 kind of bus service for crescent in 2016.
They also need to consider new depots for Ang Mo Kio,Another at Sengkang, one at Bt Merah area..If not how svc from these district park?
