I am surprised that they want to conduct another round of trial on the Volvo Diesel Hybrid Bus. From the first round of trial last year, have they not already realised that this bus model is not at all comfortable to ride on, and it is not financially feasible to operate this kind of bus model in Singapore?
the same bus or a new one? wow look like from AMK deport this time.

I guess this is because SBS Transit HQ is in Braddell.
They should try the 12m version
Bus deployed to 268 for now.
Why not trial for 42 or 317 which ply private house?

I share the same thoughts on 42, as it is a viable route to test terrain and feasibility in one route, 317 wise, it probably didnt got selected because it was under HG ( Note that the services chosen this time round were AM and BN routes)
Should have trial ADL E200 and MAN 14.250 midi too,No harm trying for low capacity, narrow routes.10.5/10.9m is good enough.Even cities like London and HK also using midibuses.Great candidates for 42,84,115,191 or even 825..Hahaha i know the reason will be standardise fleets..but useful for plying routes like Haig Rd

I did observe 84 almost packed to the door (and queue longer than 34) on weekends...

8002 chassis/interior is considered obsolete in 2016
Most countries r gearing for their public buses to be fully low floor to cater to ageing population...
Having steps to rear portion of bus is not helpful, KUBs was slammed for the steps, SBST never learns
So many SDs in the market, short/long, ADL E200, Wright...
Putting on sv42 means another bus/BC need to be put on standby as 8002 is prone to breakdown...

A similar circuit has already been performed in Perth under Green CAT.

If they had wanted they would have done so long ago...
Very soon new models would come and these makes will be outdated again...

Long ago its only the two incumbents but now Ah Kong already take over bus operations and everything is possible.Who would have thought the Hybrid 11m plus is on trial here?

Nevertheless I think there is a need for medibuses... SG is one of the few countries that still uses 12m SD for its trunk ops, even though some clearly does not need them... Eg. 84, 882...
I dont buy the theory that one size can really fit all for bus operations... Even for rail operations we need to tailor its trains to each and every line... Leave alone buses which comes in a whole more lot of varieties...
Even in London and HK, there are different makes, lengths and types for different routes...
And I feel that shorter buses could come in handy for these svcs too... Easier for 42 to manoeuvre around the narrow roads and tight turns in Kembangan, and for 84 to u turn at Punggol Point...

Agreed to the max,If they want to follow London or Australia style then opt for 10.5m midibuses like the MAN 14.250 or even the 10.7m ADL Enviro 200.Peak hours can just add 12m buses to join.

There hasn't been much of an interest for true midi buses (ie not shortened versions of full sized buses) in Australia for quite some time, 12.5m is the norm for buses in Australia nowadays. There has been some new models, but nothing like the sort of volumes seen in the mid 1990s-2000s, where there were large amounts of MAN midis introduced.
