I just hope that Volvo will produce a low floor version of B8
This is not likely to be a bus that is "owned" by SBST.
The bus is supposed to be registered on the day the trial started, isn't it? Why is there no news of the bus till now?
No idea leh,But seriously if im from SBST i would rather buy a few of Volvo B9Ls first...Then in 2016 let LTA buy all those hybrid buses
if i am sbst i would rather not buy any buses now. and let LTA do all the buying and plaining.
It could be something to do with:

I would do the exact opposite if i am u. Just pick all the good buses that may cost higher (but have a lower running cost) for example this hybrid. The gov't will eventually purchase all the buses from you during the tender exercise at cost less depre and you get the enjoy the fuel savings without forking out much for the vehicle costs.
any news of this bus??
I just wonder why is there no news of this bus...
A failed trial?

It cannot be the case...I just wonder why the bus has not been spotted doing any of the services as stated in the notice the previous page. By right if the bus is on trial by doing those services then it should have been registered!

Own time, own target. Have more patience guys.

Well, this has nothing to do with my patience...it should have been registered on the day the trial started and commenced service back then, and it is long overdue...
I just like how SMRT is saving its trial time, like 5888 when it first got to SG SMRT keep training it to deploy ASAP so on road longer, UNLIKE SBST taking their own sweet time, wasting the trial time like its none of their business.
Just my two cents worth of advice.

1 thing they are dragging the time is because the bus itself was in Australia specification without rear window. If I'm not wrong, it could be a LTA rule as well that public buses need to have rear window... SMB138Y was sent back to STK, might be this fact...
So perhaps it's failed, or was sent back to make the rear window.

dont think is the rear window issue. SBS8030 also got no rear window. same goes for all ADD buses.
Unless it is a regulation that wasn't present when SBS8030L was introduced onto the road...

If they have to rip out the rear of the bodywork for an additional window, why issue an exemption order that spared them from ripping out the existing doors as well?
The bus may be built to Australian specifications, but they have already received all the necessary exemptions for the duration of the trial. But it is most likely to be returned to Australia after the trial for the exact same reasons.

138Y was not sent back because of the lack of rear window, it was because SMRT did not want the bus as it was using Ventura doors since the rear doors were slow in closing, according to the STK staff which I talked to during the SMRT carnival. STK had already attempted selling the bus 2 times at a reduced price and 2nd time as a training bus, but SMRT rejected both offers. Currently there are no buyers for it, but since SMRT Enviros are using Ventura doors, STK may attempt to sell it to SMRT once more according to him.

Well, then hopefully this time they succeed...

if it is rear window problem it seems everybody forget another demo bus that volvo 8030 which is doing 506 service for a few days? and it seems to give out back smoke already when moving off from traffic light. Euro 4 or 5? lol
