Suggestions for new bus connections

  In my opinion, I feel that all of us are only wasting time creating our own routes and suggesting them here, or to the LTA, when nothing much is going to happen thereafter. Even if there are new bus routes that are quite similar to the ones suggested, they are probably only the same by chance.

  Actually, even without us telling anything, LTA should already know which existing bus services require new bus services to complement (to relieve the loading) and which areas may need new bus connections, since they have the data on the loading and utilisation of bus services across every part of the island.

  Whereas for new towns and new industrial developments, I am sure they have a computer software that can predict the loading and travelling patterns, and design the bus networks there.

  Hence, I think we should have a new topic, where instead of suggesting routes, we suggest new bus connections to destinations where a place is not connected or well connected to, so we could highlight to LTA for their consideration.

  This includes suggesting a bus connection of normal fares that is similar to what is already provided by services (eg. express bus services) that charge premium fares.

  Personally, I think this is a more effective way of convincing LTA to provide new bus services. 

  1. Instead of suggesting a new bus route, we suggest which new bus connections should be provided, and let LTA piece the suggested new bus connections together and create a new bus route.
  2. This should increase the probability of LTA introducing new bus services that provide such bus connections.

  In this topic, we shall suggest new bus connections and discuss

  • * whether or not it is feasible of providing such bus connections, or
  • * whether there is a better way of providing such bus connections.

  - intra-town bus connection between Boon Lay and Bu Lim.

  - shorter journey (3.85km) from Lakeside MRT to Jurong West Street 25, as compared to 5.0km on MRT (to Boon Lay MRT) and 181.

  - a better alternative to 240P.
