SBST/LTA/SMRT slyly do downgrade few services. They did with BSEP DD on 139 and also many DD slots were converted to SD on sv 166 w/ loading dropping. I think to your point, they should remove few SDs so that bunching reduces still maintaining capacity to an optimal level.

Yeap, that was my point: remove certain SDs but maintain similar capacity by utilising lesser qty of DDs in replacement instead. Much more effective at solving the bunching problem if they're looking at reducing bunching.
But nowadays, they're more concerned with reducing waiting times instead (so this means, bunching is okay to them as long as there is a bus there)

I wonder who are the advisers at LTA? The frequency for many feeders is no longer an issue. It is capacity. We just need more high capacity buses and then you don't need the next bus just a min away. The number of buses doing in and out of Tampines central these days is crazy, forming a long queue of buses, and higher wait time to clear the traffic signal. This is leading to higher run time on certain services.
They add more buses thinking that pax no need to wait longer but instead stuck at traffic lights or queue up to Interchanges..What the hell!
857 to get 4 DDs... and from what I hear soon to be a fleet of 8 DDs... with some deployment from SMRT side as well...
Glad to see 857 getting upgraded to DDs finally.
Also first Yishun service to get DDs =)
854 is next...Maybe 4 DDs for a start
First upgrade for sv 197 in last 3 years
1 SD --> 1 DD slot conversion.
133 also gets one SD --> DD slot (now operating with 12 DDs, 9 SDs)
sv 99 has 2 DDs downgraded to SD. Now operating w/ fleet of 15 DDs, 5 SDs from 17 DDs, 3 SDs...
67 u got sometime 4, sometime 6 abd sometime 8 double decker. no consistent. why like?

Wow... that's like mass deployment of DDs to sv 66... that too starting on a public holiday :)
It's a great move.. and good competition and relief to sv 67 along Little India - Bukit Timah stretch.

It's a great move to put DDs on Sv 66. But, why is it that those they put from SLBP typically are already perm somewhere else..?
I mean, for BNDEP, I think if 3839D and 3841X appears again on Monday, it should be perm since they're the next in line for the SP fleet. But SLBP's side..seems like a mess.

TBH I don't think sv 66 and 67 have much competition along Little India - Bukit Timah stretch... Every time I board 66/67 at Botanic Gardens or somewhere else along Bt Timah Rd at night, both services are always packed, but actually not so many people alight in Bukit Timah. Seems that only when the buses reach Bukit Timah Plaza or somewhere further are the people starting to alight, but from there 66 and 67 have different routes already. Those heading towards Bukit Batok will not take 67 and those towards CCK will not take 66, so not much relief. Anyway we may not even need these 2 services anymore after completion of DTL..
67 go my house. i take few time and has pack load for long stretch. i see many alight at rochor, little india mrt. also many board there and alight at botanic garden, coronation plaza, bef clementi road stop. here i think 66 can help.
wen 39 get upgrade to double decker? it go my house and i want double decker on it. sbs please surprise me. so great relief for long distance yishun travels. like 145, 66 i want to see 39 surprise soon.
I wish 961 have DDs, peak hour can get crowded. Got pax take from BTM all the way to Woodlands or Bt Timah.
If Lor 1 starts tree pruning and chopping then we will see 961,980 & 985 getting few DDs..
