[BSEP] Extension of Service 11 to Rhu Cross

Based on MP Mr Lim Biow Chuan facebook page, he posted that SBS Transit Bus Service 11 will be extended to Tanjong Rhu with effect from 8 June 2014.

As of now, there have been no press release from SBS Transit and LTA.

Hi mr boy20, it is true. Sbs 11 is extended to serve the residents of tanjong rhu. They will directly connect you to stadium mrt and also the new mall at national stadium. Shopping and more shopping. The private houses area at that side is very badly connected. Although they have 3 mrt stations nearby (dakota, mountbatten, stadium), they are not within walking distance.

However, none of the existing bus services provide the last mile connection to link the residents to these MRT stations. Thus, residents at Haig Road only need a bus service to link them about 1.4 km to reach the nearest Dakota MRT station. Residents at Tg Rhu and Meyer, just need a feeder service to bring them 1.5km to the nearest MRT station at Stadium MRT.

Then may I know, where does 11 terminate?

Lor 1? New roadside Ter at TR? Or the abandoned bus int at stadium?

Hi mr SMB128B, geylang lor 1 terminal to tanjong rhu road (loop). Minor extension. Connect people from tanjong rhu doorstep to stadium mrt doorstep! Cheers.

Hi mr Acx1688, yes understand from haig road to mrt still rejected. But at least from tanjong rhu to mrt accepted in extension of sbs 11. Frequency will be improved too. At least better than nothing. just a few minutes ago, LTA announced this at their Facebook page:

Good news if you’re living in the Tanjong Rhu area! Better bus connectivity is coming to you!

From 8 June 2014, Service 11 – which plies between Lorong 1 Geylang Bus Terminal and the Singapore Indoor Stadium along Stadium Crescent – will have its route extended by 7 new bus stops to include Tanjong Rhu Road and Rhu Cross. This means that you’ll have better access to Stadium, Mountbatten and Kallang MRT Stations, and to amenities like Leisure Park Kallang and the upcoming Sports Hub and Kallang Wave!

With the extension, Service 11 will operate an hour earlier from 6am, with the last bus departure at 11.30pm daily.

good now those rich ah neh and rich people live there and their maids can take public transport mrt and bus and taxi drivers might lost some business. service 11 act like feeder bus service there.

LTA v funny, nev state freq for new svcs, BSEP buses or is it taken std 10mins max?

Hi mr Acx1688, should be around 10 mins for peak. Yes I agree this is a very good extension. Anyway sbs 11 will not have any loading if it is to stay with old route. Cheers.

I had suggested this route to SBST and even on this forum over a year back about extension of Sv 11 to make it useful. As usual, it was rejected then.

Why should Haig road request be rejected? Can just divert 135... Problem resolved.
