So the first two DDs for SMRT are considered as demonstrators? If that's so, I wonder how will the MK1 bendies be replaced, when they had been confirmed to be scrapped by 2015?
849 to 889 will be gone first.
40 bendies replace 40 bendies. Just like how 388S replace 838H
DDs will replace most of the trunk svc that have majority bendies like 969,963,176 etc.
But if DD replace Habit, Volgren, Smileys. I wonder where they will throw them? Unless they want put them as SP jz like how HG/SL/BB kept DM3500 as spare until Citaro comes in to displace them.
Possible the current batch of bendies will deregister early just like how the Lance are gone 5 years ahead of actual deregistration period.
Only time will tell
I really hope they purchase another 100 units and maybe another 25 more A24s by 2016

A first batch of about 30 buses will be delivered to SMRT’s bus depots in June 2014. The vehicles will undergo further tests including functional, systems and road tests before joining SMRT’s existing fleet of over 1,200 buses to serve commuters from July 2014. SMRT Buses will be introducing the rest of the fleet progressively till end 2016.

I think this time the DD is replacing the box bendy...Prob. they clearing those problematic bendy out by not refurbing them. Then when the 241 new fleet have settled, it will be a mixture of WAB DD/Bendy and non-WAB Bendy.

ADL is on familiarisation on most SMRT rts...
No nd to speculate, not all 30 will be here by june... only a portion...
OT:
KMB/CTB will be launching their E500 MMC scale model, rt.960/171 in their respective liveries.
Interested PM pls
Source maintains bus will start doing commercial service from June end.
On a side note if SMRT gonna survive in the bus business they need at least another 100 DDs and probably another 40 more A24s..Why bother buy more A22s when the residents in their territories keep increasing?Sooner we will witness another same old story again from them,Buses repairs too long in depots, more and more 12m deploy on high volume routes etc etc..Don't talk about feeders or Intratowns nor short trunk routes but based on average calculation for their trunks I think 201 DDs for the time being till all the non wab bendy to be scrapped they cannot survived.
190 only already take about 35 DDs the rest you think for yourself,Then each depot should at least have 3 spare DDs

i believe is coz SMRT has financial constraints to buy more DDs now as the bus contractmodel has not been implemented yet. prob is LTA and the PTOs incl SBST are too slow in their reactions. LTA should by now work with the PTOs to help finance and buy more DDs to prepare for the future.
Meanwhile, there are DDs deployed onto services that do not require them. On such services, the upper deck is relatively empty during off-peak hours.
It may be better (more financially viable) to purchase more SDs to take over the DDs on such services, so more DDs can be deployed to services that really require them.
Right now, this applies to only SBS Transit. When LTA takes over the buses, there should be sufficient DDs to go around & it should rationalise the buses so only those that require DDs will have DDs.

Half of the 200 or so DDs are owned by LTA.
What say you?
Anyway, all buses r owned by gahmen all along...
Who owns SBST,SMRT?
Shareholders.
Really ah.
If they are so called beholden to govt, we wont have so many problems with bus and train in recent years.
You think saw phaik hwa is owned by temasek?
knn trying to get smrt to buy DDs took a decade and more.
