Random thread on doors
Brands:
Bode = O405 (Hispano), O405G (Hispano), Citaro
SMC Transit = B10TL, KUB, WEG, OC, O405 and O405G (Volgren)
Masats = MAN
Ventura = MAN (SMB138Y), ADL E500
Question: Is Ventura doors better than Masats? Which is the best brand in your opinion? For me, my favourite are the Bodes doors on the O405.
O405 and O405G Hispano doors are actually Bode/Masats, as during that time Masats was in partnership with Bode, hence the doors have both Bode and Masats logo.
SMC doors are known as SMC, while Transit is the door type. http://www.smcbusdoors.com.au/index.html
Leyland, Volvo Olympian, B10M and Dennis Trident uses Deans doors.
Haven't taken a bus with Ventura doors yet, so can't compare.
Best brand I think it would be Bode. Those on the O405s and O405G still close tight like on the Citaros.
Worst brand is SMC, those on some of the older buses can't even close properly. However I think the newer generation ones (installed on the newer Wrights) with the air release system close better.
SBS8689L has sliding...
Ventura are among the best in the market...
Used in HK buses...

Saw a video of SMB138Y on 961, with the Ventura doors. Seems that the doors were quieter and more sturdy than Masats. SMC Transit very funny, got all sorts of patterns, no uniform pattern unlike Masats... The Bode-Masats doors on the O405s (not those on the MK2 bendy and Habits) are argubly the best, still close properly after all these years... So, it seems that the Bode-Masats doors (O405s and O405G MK1 bendy) and Ventura doors (according to user Acx1688) are the best of the pack.
Add on Bro, most buses around the world use sliding doors, if you click on the ventura hyperlink, you can see the different types...
SG, SBST DM5000 exit doors are the same as those in HK, smaller swing radius and faster opening unlike WEG II/VSOs/CDGE B9...

Trident the doors are like those used on KMB TransBus E500... Slam and swing like dog...
Sliding doors slightly faster closing time, less space, no irritating swinging fixtures, but hard to maintain... SBST should consider though

Yah agree but SBST cost conscious...
How about the Citaros? What brand doors are they using?
SMC doors are just loose shits. KUBs when they go thru rough roads, the rear doors stars rocking like its gona drop and its very loud esp when it goes thru very badly dents.

Strongly agreed. Once taken a CDGE not long ago, the door close halfway and then the bus took off! I had to desperately pull the door to close as the bus was really crowded and I was standing right next to the affected door... X.X

This is what you get from cheap stuff...

Bode... It is a default factory option.

Transperth low-floor buses, including the latest Volvo B7RLE, have experienced similar issues with their SMC inward opening doors. The doors would rebound and close when the driver tries to open them.

The grass is always greener on the other side.
When the New Bus for London was on public display, kids played with the Ventura doors so much that it became flimsy after a week.
The best doors to me are the most reliable ones that can withstand years of use/abuse. Inward opening pneumatic doors give the least problems out of all possible options.
Maintenance is important too. It is annoying to see parts coming loose in less than a few months. I have been getting this frequently (notice the chain inside becomes exposed):

Every Citaro in Singapore uses Bode doors.

Do you have the Masats logo for the O405 and O405G buses? I have only spotted the Bode logo so far.

Default?!

There is one Masats logo on the front door of TIB1143Y...

Was it on the glass itself, or the door panel at the bottom? I suspect it might be a replacement set, some photographic evidence would be excellent.

When you board the bus, seat behind the driver, then you will see the logo on the bottom of the right leaf door (from the inside)...
Thanks 23ispolo.
Does anyone know the brand of doors used on Scania ELBO buses?
