Adapted from Joint News Release by SBS Transit & Land Transport Authority
12 May 2014 – A new supplementary service overlaid on existing Service 143 will be introduced from Sunday, 18 May 2014. Service 143M will supplement the parent service starting from Jurong East Bus Interchange and loop around Teban and Pandan Gardens. The enhancement will better serve the travel needs of commuters through improved frequency.
The supplementary service will alleviate crowding and reduce waiting time for commuters travelling between Teban/Pandan Gardens and Jurong East Bus Interchange/MRT Station. In addition, it will provide convenient access to the Singapore Science Centre, Jurong East Regional Library, JCube, Jem, Westgate, Commonwealth Secondary School and Teban Gardens Market and Food Centre. It will operate from 5.30am from Mondays to Saturdays and 5.50am on Sundays and Public Holidays, with the last bus departure at 12.50am daily.
Please refer to the attached poster for more details.
So now everybody should know why I was so insistent on connecting teban gardens and pandan gardens estate when there were calls to amend sbs 143 by taking out the direct linkage for pandan garden residents in this forum. There is this link to be preserved and LTA has even introduced an additional new bus service sbs 143M to highlight this importance. Cheers.

Someone's finally seen your concern and put it into action!

yup...indeed
I feel 143M should turn right to jurong town hall instead of looping at teban again since from je int it already loop once. Parent svc 143 frequency is way much better than 51. So i dont think it will affect much ppl waiting for 143 to go teban gardens from pandan.

The route of this service is actually the same as old feeder service 331...it calls Teban Gardens in both directions.
Service 331 turns right after pandan gardens to jurong town hall road. It never calls in both directions at teban gardens. I live at pandan gardens. So this 143M never really will benefit me.
This service is under BSEP?

Ya. The poster above has the BSEP logo.

This is what I had checked based on the old TransitLink Guide sometime ago...unless my memory fails me.
Y not number it 331?
143M is less than a quarter point...
Based on SBST guidelines... M is more than midpoint of journey...
70M,107M,162M,
I am not sure if it is indeed an enhancement. I take 72 before and after it implemented 72M, to me I feel that 72M buses that would have continued it journey to Tampines [prior the 72M implementation] now terminate prematurely at Hougang. 72 that ply between Hougang and Tampines are more crowded and are running at lower frequency than it used to. Perhaps there's an enhancement between Yio Chu Kang and Hougang, however definitely not from Hougang to Tampines. To me the supplementary service is a means to better 'manage' their 'limited' resources during morning peak hours. I don't see it as bus-enhancement.

It should be more of a new service...

This is a SWT suggestion. Not a SWT to be introduced.
Service 72C should be introduced to supplement this load. Rather to have this new service controlled by two depots than one alone.

LYDEP will do partial control of 72 when it is finished. I guess your '72C' goes from Tampines > Hougang?

LYDEP is better. Nearer to Tampines and ease overcrowding at HGDEP...

This is a bus park suggestion. Not a bus park to be built.
Build another bus park at Sengkang to control the Punggol services. Sub-depot of HGDEP. 3 and 136 can also go under this new depot.

Yup, perhaps a new service that enhances the journey from YCK to Hougang. It definitely didn't enhance the second stretch of this journey. When half of the commuters that alighted at Hougang MRT board the next 72, do you still view it as enhancement?

Just saying when it's (LYDEP) built... Anyway, you need to consider how SBS Transit can find such a big space for that bus park, especially because the flats in the north-east are developing...

Hi mr SBS3004X, i think with the current improved frequencies of sbs 72, they should be able to handle the load. Sbs 72 already has one of the highest frequencies of as low as 2 min for peak hours.

Um sir, I was referring to 143M in that post. Anyway, user SBS3004X is talking about the sector between Hougang and Tampines...

Sorry, I didn't see properly... I a bit 糊涂。
