Lol...
Spotted 3 DDs on 74 back to back on AMK Ave 3 - all 3 had standies... Very rare to see 3 DDs together and that too packed.

172 just happened on Monday. TIB475X bunch with TIB1204E towards boon lay.
985 sometimes is night time where BCs dun care. I rmb the last occurence was a few weeks back where TIB710S bunch with SMB133K at 10 plus at night towards CCK..
Bus bunching is a very normal occurence. 2 months ago, i have seen 4 buses sbs88 bunching along punggol road outside blk 298 bus stop towards TPE back to pasir ris. Just 2 days ago, i witnessed 3 buses sbs 3 bunching along pasir ris central going towards pasir ris bus interchange around 7.45am. The first bus sbs 3 was damn slow until it takes 55 min just to reach pasir ris int from punggol field which cocks up the whole schedule. Sbs 3B (from pasir ris ave 12 to st 71 to central) also caught up with the 3 buses of sbs 3. This scenario was partly attributed to the bus captain for the bus driver driving at an incessant slow speed and even shouting at the passengers not to board at the back and refusing to drive. I think sbs transit even called the driver ask for his location and he replied he was at meridian JC and he was stuck in traffic jam. What nonsense. There was no jam. The 2nd and 3rd sbs 3 buses even caught up with him.

This occurrence happens very often on Sv 147 also during am peak. I have spotted multiple times at Bendemeer 3 DDs on 147 back to back.
in such cases, one of the be should overtake and go ahead and pick pax but no. Most of the times, they will tail the bus in front... Bus in front having high boarding/alighting taking more time, and the buses behind empty. Some BCs are also notorious to keep 1-2 other buses in between so that ppl don't realize there is the bus at the back. I just don't understand this kind of logic.
With the current tracking says yet most driver chose to be late than early else they will be panalised by their route master if they're more than 10 min ahead of schedule.

Penalised like salary deduction?

There's this phenomenon too on 27.
During PM peak BCs tend to tail the first bus from Tampines Central all the way till IKEA until finally overtaking from there and mounting onto TPE.
I still don't get why they did this. Probably tired of squishing in pax? Or screwing up the system?

1st time of course a coffee talk with your route master/group supervisor,2nd written warning and so on probably discipline action which could affect your bonuses..Off course under 10mins can close one eye la...If not who wanna work? They are more stringent in high volume bus stops,Vital fare stage point and your arrival to Int/Ter or looping point..Like fishing game, have to throw and have to pull.

27 we understand cannot have high cap buses and the loadings issue thus the train like system of deployment.

No I'm not referring to the bunching here.
I'm referring as to why BCs like to tail and suddenly all overtake when reach IKEA.

No wonder there a timesheet with various bus stops and timings and some SLs tell me that they have to chiong for a short moment to reach this bus stop on time
Because the Senkang loadings front bus have kapo all the pax and they realised they're behind schedule also

Maybe the same case can apply on 190. Off peak also 4-5 buses bunch in which there is no congestion along the route
No congestion but loadings at certain stops require more time, off peak traffic light timings also play a part..off peak run time also quite short..take note lunch time some workers take buses ah.That time I ever 10 mins late during off peak for sic 61
293 experiencing a lot of bunching up today... Was onboard SBS8840R, but the BC slowed down midway (Tampines Ave 8), as the EZ-Link card reader console has turned off and he had to reset it. Eventually, SBS8214Z (driven by a Malay BC on duty 22T) caught up at Tampines Ave 3 (Opp Blk 819) and the BC had to 'cancel' my trip, due to the EZ-link card readers recognising it as a new ride...
Spotted two DDs on 143 at Chinatown towards Jurong East at 9.30 am today while I was in my car. First one seemed to have good seating (but must be less than 50-60 pax but I could be wrong). Second one seemed empty.
242 bunch.. SBS8950G with SBS8945Y at around 4pm..
For feeders/Intratowns/Townlinks & mid haul services we can understand why they bunch..
172 today met with delays during evening peak. Was waiting for 172 at before Nanyang Ave stop towards cck int at 6.50pm. No bus came until 7.15pm, when TIB715D (172AP03) came into the stop, packed. All pax managed to board the bus but was already to the door. Bus was driven by new driver with mentor onboard kept asking pax to move in, and alight the bus, tap the bus body to signal pax to move in. When i board the bus, it was 40 mins late.
Soon, SMB5Y (suspected 172AP04) overtook TIB715D at Aft Lim Chu Kang Stop, half full, while TIB1050G overtook TIB715D at opp HTA, with less than 5 pax on board.
At blk 204 bus stop along CCK Ave 1, all 3 buses bunch together in this order: SMB5Y, TIB1050G, TIB715D...
3046A bunch with KUB on Sv 64, when turning towards Dhoby Ghaut from Clemenceau. Observed 3046A drove quite fast and took sharp turn on Orchard rd when the signal turned amber. I was wondering why bc didn't wait for signal to turn red and wait for 2 mins rather than sticking to the KUB right in front. KUB had a few standees - must be around 40-50 pax. 3046A was empty. May be 10-15 pax on board. Maybe all the way till a Sims this will be the fate as it is right behind the KUB.
I wonder if SBST/SMRT give BCs any training on how yo manage the situation when there is a bus of the same number right in front. As per me, bc should either overtake bus in front yo take more pax and help bus in front with loading and timing OR keep 2-3 mins distance with bus ahead to collect some pax at stops rather than going empty.

Wow!
Originally posted by carbikebus:That is why SBST scores over this..When theyre late the OCC will instruct the BC not to take any pax during their journey but again traffic and road condition is unpredictable.SG is a tiny island everywhere also congested and population keep increasing.
But I still see mostly SBST bc not bothering about bunching because I think they feel that even if they don't take pax, there will be a bus behind due to improved frequency.
