As part of the initiative to increase bus capacity on longer routes and bring greater comfort to the commuter’s bus journey experience, SMRT has confirmed the delivery of over 570 buses. Orders are confirmed for 332 MAN NL323F buses, 40 MAN NG363F buses, and for the first time, a total of 201 ADL Enviro500NG double decker buses. This is the largest fleet renewal and growth initiative by SMRT to date, and re-affirms the company’s commitment to offering commuters the highest standards in safety, reliability, care and comfort.
A first batch of about 30 buses will be delivered to SMRT’s bus depots in June 2014. The vehicles will undergo further tests including functional, systems and road tests before joining SMRT’s existing fleet of over 1,200 buses to serve commuters from July 2014. SMRT Buses will be introducing the rest of the fleet progressively till end 2016.
The addition of the ADL Enviro500 in particular will help ease crowdedness during peak hours, particularly on longer routes with high passenger loads. Together with other bus orders, these new vehicles will replace older bus models, and address the need for more bus trips and better bus service levels. These ADL Enviro500s are much successful in Hong Kong.
Mr. Benny Lim, Senior Vice President for SMRT Roads said, “We are very excited with this major fleet expansion and renewal initiative. Expanding our existing fleet with ADL Double Deckers and MAN buses will enable us to better address increasingly dynamic road conditions, and ensure enhanced capacity in handling increased ridership. We look forward to bringing passengers even more comfortable and reliable rides. Of the over 570 buses that SMRT has confirmed delivery for, 218 are introduced and funded under SMRT’s participation in the Land Transport Authority’s Bus Service Enhancement Programme.

I suspect the A24s are for exchange between the current bendy. And probably there could be a new depot upcoming to add space. Cause I heard some o405s were extended also..

To start with, that notion never made any sense leh.
Its not like LTA owns SMRT.
Besides.
There are other ways to squeeze the PTOs if they step out of line, especially in the coming years. (think of who has been building depots and buying buses recently)
But we shall see.

unless some SMRT feeders have some DDs & bendys?
40 bendys obviously not enough to deploy a majority fleet of a SMRT feeder
glad they buy 200 DDs... shld be enough to go around with.
i find the numbers weird... 332 MANs, 201 DDs haha
so if they add 332 MAN SDs, whats the grand total of MAN SD buses (incl BSEP ones) ?

735 including the demo.

Hmm at this rate horh, I think some of the first 30 DD will go under WLDEP/KJDEP.
Can see from 15 July to 17 Oct(TIB849B - TIB872H), 19 from Woodlands and 5 from KJDEP.
Hmm most likely there will be some non WAB bendy transfer from KJ to WLDEP. Then the 40 A24s could be only for KJ this round?
Yishun
Feeder : 20
Intra : 15
Extra : 3
CCK
Feeder : 16
Extra : 3
Wdl
Feeder : 16
Intra : 26
Extra 4
Total : 103. If you includes crossovers(960x911E etc), plus not all trunks will need full DD, I guess SMRT needs about 120-150 A24s.
SMRT will have to deploy dd + bendy on feeders in yishun/CCK to make them WAB. I prefer 911/912/913 only have Bendies. 900/901/903 can have mix of both.
In 2012, SMRT procured 240 new buses (200 units of MAN A22 buses and 40 units of Mercedes-Benz Citaro o530). In Q1 of 2014, SMRT procured 573 new buses (332 units of MAN 12-metre buses, 40 units of MAN articulated buses, and units of 201 ADL Double Deckers). In 2012, SBS Transit procured 1000 new buses (450 units of single-deck Mercedes Citaro buses and 550 units of double-deck Volvo B9TL Wright buses).
On the assumption that these are the only procurement of new buses by SBS Transit and SMRT, both operators have already procured 1,813 units of new buses.
If this is already part of the expanded Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), and if we assume the increase (450*100/550)(81.8%) in Government-funded BSEP buses is directly proportional to the increase in number of the buses added in BSEP, where there would be (800*180/100) 1,440 new buses added by 2016, I guess this is about all the new buses that the both operators would procure and add to its fleet by 2016, and that part (1,813 - 1,440) (373) of the 573 units of new buses SMRT announced yesterday would actually only be added after 2016.
Thus, in my opinion, I feel that it is unlikely that SMRT will procure another batch of new buses, until 2016 when the second part of BSEP ends.
Otherwise, I do not know how to comprehend this already.

basically ur maths are all wrong.... and how can the order of 1000 buses by SBST be part of the expanded BSEP program when this only announce in 2014???
"SMRT Buses was granted a 10-year Bus Service Operator’s Licence (BSOL) on 1 September 2006 by the Public Transport Council (PTC)." - http://www.smrt.com.sg/Portals/0/PDFs/About%20SMRT/Investor%20Relations/Annual%20Report/AR2013/SMRT%20Annual%20Report%202013.pdf
"The signal for this change came from Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew on Wednesday, when he hinted that other players may be allowed to bid for some bus routes run by SMRT and SBS Transit, even before the pair's licences expire in 2016." - http://ride.asiaone.com/news/general/story/bus-sector-may-be-open-earlier-new-player#sthash.d12sO5VQ.dpuf
According to SBS Transit's 2012 Annual Report (page 78), the tenure of bus depot at Defu Ave will expire on 1 January 2016, while its bus depot at Ang Mo Kio Street 63 has already expired (on 1 March 2013). Meanwhile, its bus depot at Bedok North Ave 4 and its bus park at Ayer Rajah Crescent are Under Temporary Occupation Licence. Generally, SBS Transit's tenure of bus depot/park in the Eastern section of Singapore would expire by 2016.
According to SMRT's 2013 Annual Report (page 200), the tenure of bus depot at Kranji Road will expire in 1.75 years' time (I suppose it is at Q4 of this year), and its bus depot at Ang Mo Kio Street 62 has apparently expired before years ago and will expire again in 2.67 years' time (I suppose its towards Q4 of 2015). Meanwhile, SMRT bus depot at Woodlands Industrial Park E will expire in 14.32 years (around 2027) and it will have a future depot at Bulim Drive starting 2015.
Therefore, I suppose the bus depots/parks at Ang Mo Kio, Kranji, Defu Avenue will definitely be taken over and owned by the government by 2016 and be leased out for bus contracts model by then. Whereas for the bus depot/park at Bedok North and Ayer Rajah, I suppose they will also be taken over and owned by the government, then leased out for bus contracts model, after the bus contracts model is introduced at Ang Mo Kio, Kranji and Defu Avenue.
Beyond 2016, it is very likely that the bus depots at Woodlands Industrial Park E and Bulim Drive will continue to be used by SMRT, while the bus depots/parks at Soon Lee Road and Bukit Batok Street 23 will continue to be used by SBS Transit; Woodlands will most likely continue to be SMRT's area of responsibility, while Jurong will most likely continue to be SBS Transit's area of responsibility.
In short, I foresee a relatively big change in the Public Bus Services of Singapore by 2016.

Hmm but AFAIK, feeders like 901 can try getting.
