(e.g. bus stop 59429 with 59421). however pax from bus service 860 who then takes 853 is not covered (59429 and 59049 are not covered)
Fare gates is impossible... Just increase fines and better monitoring... Then people will be scared to cheat.

increase fines, and more ticket inspectors ...
it would increase the cost.
the last thing i want to see is another fare hike.

To put things in the right perspective, Singapore has one of the lowest public transportation fares if you compare it to similar developed cities such as Sydney, LA, SF, Chicago, London, Paris etc. So firstly we should be happy that our fares are really low for the good quality transport we have here. Just showing the positive side :)
What about breakdown rates?
Anybody got data on it?

To share perspective.
Each bus ride in Paris costs 1.9Euro, which is equal to 3.8 SGD without benefit of transfering. If you transfer twice in Paris i.e. 3 journeys, you pay 5.7Euro which is 11 SGD. This could be a person's one day travel cost or maybe even one way travel cost. Even if you travel 1 stop or 10 stops, you pay the same.
NY city is similar. London is more expensive.
Quality of service in Singapore better than NY and Paris - may be similar to London.
If you make already such huge earnings, it is also possible to give hikes, right!?
Anyway, I am not advocating fare hike, it does not help my pocket either since I travel so much with bus, for work as well as joy riding. I am just putting into perspective that in a way we are lucky with a wonderful transport network (most times) and not having to pay too much.
