[BSEP] New Sengkang Feeder Service 371

SINGAPORE — A new loop bus service that will connect commuters travelling from Rivervale Crescent to Sengkang MRT Station and bus interchange will begin operation from this Sunday, said SBS Transit and the Land Transport Authority today (Jan 14).
Service 371, which will operate daily from 5.45am till 12.35am, will ply along Compassvale Road, Compassvale Street, Rivervale Drive and Rivervale Crescent from Sengkang bus interchange.
The new service will also provide convenient access to amenities including Rivervale Mall and schools, such as Compassvale Primary and Secondary, and Rivervale Primary.
This is the 19th bus service launched under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).

SBS Transit will launch a new feeder bus route - service 371- from Sunday to serve Sengkang residents traveling from Rivervale Crescent to Sengkang MRT station.
The service will operate daily from 5.45am till 12.35am, and ply along Compassvale Road, Compassvale Street, Rivervale Drive and Rivervale Crescent.
It will enhance connectivity to Sengkang MRT station as well as provide convenient access to Rivervale Mall and schools such as Compassvale Secondary and Rivervale Primary, said SBS Transit.
This is the 19th bus route launched under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme, which will put a total of 800 new buses on the road to improve the bus network here.

Also duplicating the LRT from Sengkang Town Centre > Rumbia Stn (Rivervale Dr), also providing an alternative route other than 86, which commuters would have relyed on before this route (if they did not depend on the LRT in the past)...

Wheelchair-bound people = WAB Bus, because less elderly people are willing to take use the elevator in a LRT station to go up to the platform...

But they are a minority. In general, I feel for short distance, feeder bus is more useful than LRT. But others might feel differently. -
bus has bus stops near the houses people live, for LRT has to walk some distance unless the house is next to the station.

next time, vote for Opposition.
Look at how much focus is on Hougang, Aljunied and Sengkang East when they were taken over by Opposition.
Meanwhile, nobody really focus on Potong Pasir since PAP took over.

actually, I was expecting this new feeder to serve Jalan Kayu instead (many upcoming flats over there and a new shopping mall is opening soon...), especially since the area is under Ang Mo Kio Town Council, and someone is a member of that Town Council...

I think another new service will most probably come in 3rd quarter of 2014. Seletar mall will only be operational then. Just in time for it and also the many new HDB flats. Those flats at rivervale crescent are already people-occupied so they must have priority first.

Maybe this new feeder 371 should merge with 163M (similar to old 371 route) to form a new Townlink service 371 in Sengkang

There will definitely be a service for Anchorvale, Sengkang West Way but in Q3 once the HDB hubs and mall is ready. No point starting service already. -

Maybe should be extended to Sengkang West Way from Q3 of this year and then it can be a new Townlink. If it plies again along Sengkang West Ave, there is already 163 and 50 there. -
How crowded are the Sengkang and Punggol LRTs - it has been a long time I have not taken them.
