i rather 66 remain the way it is.. dosent mean it duplicates the mrt it should be taken away. not like as if any train svc here is so reliable. Sometimes some prefer getting a seat / comfort or just prefer the bus .. havent they made that mistake in the past by removing so many svcs .. and then attempt to re-introduce them .. and when train breakdown "hahahaha"

Decisions need to be taken based on demand. If after DTL, demand on 66 or 171 is not there on particular sectors, some changes would make sense. After all for anything in life, adapting to change is important.

My prediction for DTL rationalisation: Route 180 to be extended to YIS following 171 route. Route 67 amended to MCT via 171 route. As a result, Route 171 in itself becomes redundant. Route 66 amended to provide cover between LTI, Geylang Serai & BDK (due to loss of 67). Route 65 possibly withdrawn. HBF to LTI covered by NEL. -

Speaking of which, some existing BDK routes better off starting their trips from EUN. 9 & 35 are good candidates. -

180 can stay the way it is
67 could go to MCT (not bad suggestion)

66 can continue to operate as alternative to DTL for both Bukit Timah and UBI/Bedok corridor.

Seems that many people here forgot DTL's big loop in downtown area.. So I think svc 66 can remain as an alternative bus service connecting DTL2 and DTL3 while bypassing DTL1.

I think 854 will get posted to Eunos as there is sv 25 in parallel to Bedok. Also you really need 854 for the Eunos-YCK-Yishun sector. So smaller route, more buses, better frequency. -

This thread was meant to be a sequel to Press Releases in 2013.
Actually, as compared to last year's, this year's one is progressing at a higher rate. If we keep up this pace, this thread will have more pages than last year's (9 pages) by year end.

On Sunday, 20 July, from 3.00pm to 9.00pm, three SBS Transit bus services - 3, 62 and 83 - will skip the bus stop along Punggol Field, near Block 173B (Bus Stop code: 65161). This is due to road closure for the Punggol North Street Parade 2014 event.

I had suggested you when you created this thread... that something like Press Releases should be preserved and instead of having a new thread every year, we could just have a thread on Press Releases, that would at least be a collection of 4-5 years.
