The Taman Jurong Bus Terminal is 2.1 km straight-line distance away from Jurong East Bus Interchange, while Boon Lay Bus Interchange is 2.6km straight-line distance away. While extending the route to Boon Lay Bus Interchange from Jurong West Street 42, LTA should take this opportunity to improve and enhance the bus connectivity to Taman Jurong from Wenya and, if possible, from Yunnan (Gek Poh and Nanyang), which currently do not have any bus link to Taman Jurong. Perhaps it should do it while taking the opportunity to relieve load off bus routes 99 and 185, which complement each other and both experience high crowding levels during peak periods. Still, it must try to ensure that the travelling time to Boon Lay Bus Interchange from Jurong West Street 42 is within 35 minutes (current travelling time from Jurong West Street 42 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange) or shorter.
It would be ideal if the journey on service 49 from Jurong West Street 42 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange is around 25 minutes, similar to bus journeys to the interchange from Jurong West Street 91(3.4km), 81(2.9km) and 72(3.6km). In short, the distance the bus travel from Jurong West Street 42 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange should be around 3.3km (+/- 0.3km).
Personally, I would suggest that it be extended this way to Boon Lay Bus Interchange:
With this extension, the bus will have to ply Jurong West St 41/42 in both directions. This way Jurong West St 42 will be connected to JE, Lakeside and Boon Lay.
Can't wait to take sv 49. It will relieve the loading on 334 to some extent, but I still suspect 334 to be crowded during peak hours, especially PM peak.
98A almost becomes redundant with launch of this service 49. The crossover from sv 97 can be given to 49 instead of 98A (only that it is BSEP).

Just that SLBP does not have them, there might be some depot transfer for BSEP with SP Citaros from other depots or SLBP will need to convert the BSEP Citaros on existing services to WEG.
