anyway, this sv49 should be using Citaros handed over from Sv87/154/251/293 and some other BSEP services if i am not wrong. these services will in turn get BSEP Wright instead. i might be wrong, but chances are there because of ett change from 9 Dec 2013

But there aren't svc 4* who goes to the west, except 48 which terminate all the way at BVT.
I mean, there are better numbers than 49...
The length of BSEP bus route 49 is about 10.71km (+/-0.2km).
If bus route 335 (10.1km) takes around 65 mins (when I did my own bus spotting on 335, it took me 67 minutes to spot the same bus again) to complete, this new BSEP bus route(10.7km) would require around 70 mins to complete.
Assuming that the frequency is range from 10-15 minutes, about 5 to 7 buses would be deployed to this route.

So what is the better number?? does the service no affect anything? so u wont take this bus because it is call Sv49?
Fictional Deployment for Service 49
SBS6345S(SLBP 52>SLBP 49)--SBS3366B perm 52(Already carried out)
SBS6403H(SLBP 52>SLBP 49)--SBS3367Z perm 52
SBS6417T(SLBP 154>SLBP 49)--SBS3369T perm 154
SBS6417T(SLBP 154>SLBP 49)--SBS3370M perm 154
SBS6367D(SLBP 251>SLBP 49)--SBS3371K perm 251
SBS3368X(SLBP SP>SLBP 49)
If I were to think in LTA's shoes I would choose the newer buses for Sv49
As such I would spare SBS6311P from redeployment to Sv49
And it would be logical for at least 1 Double Deck to be deployed to Sv49 as it has been seen training around, hence,I have deployed SBS3368X on 49.
And this deployment will remain like this as speculation, until we see if more buses are delivered and the respective depots for the buses.

I believe this statement is raised because you are desperate.
Aiyah.
Didnt I say 71?
I was using a very neutral and suggestive tone to express my TWO CENTS, it's your problem for being so sensitive.
The service number makes the service group mixed up, with numbers everywhere. You tell me, where for a place where bus numbers of the same operator are all mixed one?
And for your last question, I wanna say, whether it is called 49 or not I won't really take it coz I rarely even reach the west, leave alone taking 49 (I stay in the east and the places the svc plies aren't where I will go when I do go to the west side).
Originally posted by Pervertedboy:Somehow, this new BSEP route duplicates most of bus route 98.
No it does not duplicate 98. It is a good route. The load for 98 from Lakeside is for Jurong West Ave, whereas this one goes to Jurong West St 42 and comes back via Jurong West St 41.
Originally posted by Pervertedboy:I foresee changes to route 335. Maybe this route will be shortened and changed to serve the HDB area next to Chinese Garden, which still does not have any bus link to the Chinese Garden MRT Station. If so, the new section is likely to be this:
- Boon Lay Way
- Jurong East Street 31
- Jurong East Avenue 1
- Jurong East Street 32
- Jurong East Avenue 1
- Jurong East Street 31
- Boon Lay Way
Sv 335 should change. I propose it still goes to Jurong West St 52 else there is no service covering this. Instead of coming back to Chinese Garden via St 51 (now that it has 49), it should come back via St 32/St 31. This way new stops can be called st Jurong St 31.

49 as a bus number? And as a feeder number somemore?
Numbering system totally ruined nowadays, so disappointing.
4x is supposed to be reserved for UEC svcs, and now there's one all the way at Taman Jurong.
I remember you once scolding at me because I proposed a service 47 from Sengkang to Tampines Int (similarity with sv 27 in numbering and routing). And you said IMPOSSIBLE. All 4x numbers are reserved for UEC/EC area. But you see, it's not true.

71 should be reserved for a future service to Tanjong Penjuru Crescent.
Originally posted by azharjj:i forsee 4-5 buses use for this route
I think it will have around 6-7 buses at least.
Originally posted by azharjj:the ? mark is tah ching road (where 246 plies)
I am happy it plies Tah Ching Rd. 246 frequency can be quite erratic especially the AM dispatches from Boon Lay. 246 alone at this stop gets 30-35 pax in peak hours. And a lot of people walk to Corporation Dr to take sv 98. so this way can get a good alternative. PM peak will see more people opt for 49 instead of 246 given the stop will be right outside MRT and don't have to cross road. 246 load going to drop a lot. Foresee 246B from Boon Lay to International Road in future during AM peak and downroutes during PM peak from International Rd.

I think they will deploy 4 WEGs, 3 Citaros to start with. or other way round.

Still feel sv 49 should get at least 2 WEG. It should get Citaro from sv 43/87/293 IMO. But considering the tt eff, you could be right.

Just like 51 for HG-JR East svc when 5x is for Bishan svcs.
It is obvious that the new buses, bought using the money for BSEP, will be deployed to this new BSEP bus service; The buses to be deployed on service 49 would be new Mercedes Citaro buses and new Volvo B9TL Wright double-deck buses.
As mentioned earlier, the length of the new BSEP route is 10.7km. Judging from experience, it would take around 70 minutes for a bus to complete a trip on route 49. On the assumption that the service runs on 10-15 minutes frequency, around 5 to 7 buses is required.
Taking reference from 98: the shortest frequency is 4 minutes per bus. This is perhaps the shortest frequency on 49 as well, since it complements 98, to a certain extent. Thus, the maximum number of buses that may possibly be deployed to 49 is 18.
For a start, the frequency of BSEP service 49 is probably the same as that of the other BSEP services when they just started - 10-15 minutes - which means that around 5 to 7 buses would be deployed to this service. Over time, if the demand for this service grows and more people commute on this service, it is likely to run at a reduced frequency of down to just 4 minutes, with a maximum of 18 buses deployed to this service, 2.6 times the maximum number of buses deployed now as this service just started.
Based on where the Taman Jurong Bus Terminal is located, it is very likely that the buses for service 49 will come from Soon Lee Bus Depot (roughly 3km straight-line-distance away), via Pioneer Road North, International Road, Yung Kuang Road, Corporation Drive and Hu Ching Road.
I think it's 7-8 buses, 1-2 S/TQs.
Whereas for the number used for this new BSEP bus route, I believe it is just a temporary one.
When Joo Koon Bus Interchange opens, a new public bus network originating from Joo Koon will be introduced, while the public bus network originating from Boon Lay Bus Interchange and Jurong East Bus Interchange will be adjusted somehow to accomodate the new public bus network from Joo Koon.
Boon Lay may lose quite a number of bus services to Joo Koon, while Jurong East may have new bus services from Joo Koon.
There may be re-numbering of bus services in Boon Lay and in Jurong East, as the bus services from Joo Koon may have a new set of numbers.
Hence, by Mid-2015, the number for this new BSEP bus route may be different.

Good reply
I like this route. I think it is going to be very effective as an alternative for 98/246 and relieve load on 334/335. In fact, the route I had speculated was quite similar just that my route went via Corporation where (99 plies)
dont forget, the taman jurong terminal is just a temporary one.
recent URA master plan revealed that Hu ching road will be gone
hence service 49's future starting point will be a mystery
wondering where will it start in the near future =)
btw the mini poster for service 49 is at the bus stop's pole, where the route plies
spotted at blk 551 bus-stop and the bus stops where 334 plies
