A new bus service will be launched on Dec 14 to improve Jurong West residents' connectivity to Lakeside MRT station.
The new loop service 49 will run from Taman Jurong bus terminal and ply area roads like Yuan Ching Road, Corporation Drive, Corporation Road, Boon Lay Way, Jurong West Street 51, Jurong West Avenue 1, Jurong West Street 42. It will run daily from 6am to 11.30pm.
It will also improve inter-town connectivity between Taman Jurong, on the south side of Boon Lay Way, and Jurong West Streets 41 and 42 to the north, and provide access to amenities like a market and food centre at Jurong West Street 52.
The new service 49 is the 16th bus service to be added under the government's $1.1 billion Bus Service Enhancement plan to beef up Singapore's bus network.
Somehow, this new BSEP route duplicates most of bus route 98.

49 x 2 equals to 98
Still no press release from LTA or news from other websites. But based on what is written on ST's website, the route is this:
I foresee changes to route 335. Maybe this route will be shortened and changed to serve the HDB area next to Chinese Garden, which still does not have any bus link to the Chinese Garden MRT Station. If so, the new section is likely to be this:
This is stupid.
49 as a bus number? And as a feeder number somemore?
Numbering system totally ruined nowadays, so disappointing.
4x is supposed to be reserved for UEC svcs, and now there's one all the way at Taman Jurong.

No bus route changes to route 335. Route 333 should be via Chinese Garden MRT Station.

Usually no cause bsep is meant to improve frequencies and alternatives

I don't think 334 and 335 will be amended as the direct link between Jurong West Street 42, 51 and 52 and Jurong East MRT will be lost and I don't think the residents would welcome such changes plus 49 never even plys Street 52.
Actually, what Jurong needs is more of some changes in routes, less of new routes. The bus networks here is almost perfect already. Just need a few changes here and there, plus a few new routes to complete everything.
With this new BSEP bus route, travelling time to/fro the MRT would be shorter for residents staying in Jurong West Street 42 and 41.
In Hong Kah, the only section that will not be served by this new BSEP route would be residents staying in Jurong West Street 52. Still, part of the area is actually within walking distance to Lakeside MRT Station. Residents staying there would have to continue to use 335 to go to Chinese Garden/Jurong East to get to/fro the MRT network.
However, at least the buses on 335 would not be so crowded now, as the new BSEP route takes over a portion of the passengers. So, to some extent, residents of Jurong West Street 52 would have a more comfortable bus journey to/fro the MRT network and Jurong Regional Centre. In short, although indirectly, the residents of Jurong West Street 52 will still benefit from this new BSEP bus route.
The new BSEP bus route has, to some extent, taken over part of the feeder role of routes 334 and 335. My guess is that since demand for these bus services at Hong Kah may drop, as a result of this new BSEP bus route, there may be some merger here and there. Hence, some route amendments may happen.
My guess is that 335's route at Hong Kah may be changed to this:
no need speculate so much.. there wont be any changes to the feeder services....
