Well im not sure how bad the situation is but if i were u id go xcuse me and squeeze thru if they did not feel like moving in. Then again singapore is very crowded and all this makes ppl frustrated and agitated.
Oh. Thanks for the correction. I apologize for my misjudgement of one's gender. Also, I'm new.

Like you. many commuters and i, we face the same problems of people not moving in ...
When i stand at the door and fellow commuters are trying to board after me, i will look at whether the bus is still empty at the rear, if it is, i will raise just politely ask for everyone to move in, if no one budges, i will again ask people at the rear to move in
Do not be shy...
The bus captains have a timetable to adhere to - they can't be too early or too late.
Info from BIS~ most popular page on Singapore buses~
Secondly,
SG's transport is not that fantastic, buses come at around 10mins or so for most services,
This is not the case in Hong Kong, London, Barcelona, Vienna
In the case of underground, you cannot beat Hong Kong, London or Moscow, Yes i mean Moscow, trains come at 1.5mins on the dot, if you miss one, the next one comes fairly fast, SG local train operators say need to change signalling and all those excuses are purely LAME

It is a passing remark to tell you how self-entitled you are.

Most HK bus freq suck big time, though services like 101 comes at crazy intervals, even during off peak.
But its trains beat SG big time.
SG trains used to come at 3 mins freq during off peak and 1-2 mins freq during peak... What happened?
Trains in Paris or Seoul comes at incredible freq too.
Singapore really needs to buck up on its PT. Trust me, I sumpah I'm not the only one here who had realised the steep drop in service since 2003. And having 3-car trains that YET comes at a blood-vomiting 7-8 mins freq wouldn't impress the mass public and foreign observers too. What about the 6.9m population?

I had no idea.... I always had the impression that SG's public transport was pretty good.... its better than Australia's in my opinion. I guess it isn't that great then.

Well I wouldnt be so bold to judge the PT system if I am just a tourist...
And don't guess that I talk based solely on Internet knowledge too.

Oh, perhaps hate is too strong of a word.
1. Bus captains repeatedly telling passengers to move back for the rest of the journey when clearly once or twice is enough. If other passengers don't want to move back, there's no point repeatedly telling them for the rest of the journey. It's like teaching a dumb man how to fish. He never learns. Unless you use an alternative method. But no, certain bus captains go non stop like a broken record, "Ah pls move back pls, ah move to the side pls, ah thankiew ah " for a good 30 seconds.
2. Bus frequency issues. Simple example : woman waited 13 times for bus service 190 to come. Not to mention other bus services experiencing this issue. At times during peak hours, I see 3 of the same bus lined up accordingly. Ridiculous.
3. Passengers that do not ever move back to create space. Inconsiderate commuters so self centered living in their own world of music. Do they ever observe the environment?

Everything I want to say is inside the video. Nuff said.
1) Infact all passengers are too stubborn and lazy to move to the rear. There's some passengers where they move 1-2 steps after the first call, and another 1-2steps after the 2nd call.
2) The road is not only meant for buses. Even with bus lane, some car drivers already make use of it to escape the jam.[Even expressway road shoulders]. And not to forget that drivers are also human, nobody's perfect. I would say that some passengers are really too narrow minded, not willing to take alternative routes just to save the effort of transferring.
3) Should be roughly the same as point 1.
From my point of view, as long there's transport(buses/trains) connecting you from places to places, providing you good air-con system, that's a good public transport system. I don't demand much. We're paying less than $5(for normal svc), and sometimes free/discount when we transfer(distance fare).
Get a car!

It is expensive leh. We are paying the fares almost everyday, imagine a day total fares add up to $5, multiply it by 30 and it will be $150! Please don't forget that you'll need food, how much are going to spend on a meal?

The first and third point is different.
The first point refers to the bus drivers that repeatedly tell passengers to move in when clearly, once or twice is enough, because I believe nobody is that dumb at understanding clear, flat-out english , "Move inside, move in to the back pls. Thanks ah, sorry ah." At times, the bus drivers spend a good 20 seconds telling the passengers to move in while the bus idles at the same position. Nobody moves, everybody stills. This is a problem, a lot of effective time has been eaten up in travelling if it occurs at every bus stop.
On the other hand, the third point refers to stubborn passengers themselves who refuse to move in. The third point focuses on the inconsiderate commuters, who have not thought of the welfare of other commuters who want to board the bus.

Agreed, route 10 from North Point to Kennedy town only HKD3+ also!!
Why is Singapore's public transport is called world-class public transport. So there must be something wrong with the people who said that. And it is not just the driver fault. Some of the passengers are so selfish. They don't move to the back or give up their seat to those who need it even when the senior citizen or pregnant woman has asked them to give up their seat.
Damn stressed.
