Remember HK different from Singapore, here you have a dual-poly system with SMRT dominating all PT in the NW while in HK you have MTR as rail and KMB, NWFB for buses, more PTO running the show...
So would SMRT wanna introduce a new svc that would conflict with its NSL and yet waste operation costs? Unless you convince LTA to let SBST do the job which is real unlikely unless it's Premium svc. HK have bus operators that compete with rival MTR and also each other, thus the better and more direct svcs coming up day by day...
So not to say that YT don't deserve new CBD svc, just extend 972 or make 971E full day and let it start at YT can alr, pass through a bit of BPJ won't die one... If they don't want they can always take the MRT
TT is why HK public transportation model is superior to SG's so-called "World class transport" and the upcoming "World class fares"

Actually, don't have to even extend any of the services. Just ply a feeder to loop around Yew Tee and connect to BPJ via KJE and Woodlands Rd. They will need this anyway when DTL opens.

Yes agreed, but if only HK can follow SG's distance fares and have exit tap outs on their buses...

But tt contradicts forumnites suggestion for direct link to town without making another transfer from YT

As mentioned by SMB128B, I would agree with him that SMRT is unlikely to operate any direct services that replicates their train lines. LTA might do so in the form of BSEP, but it seems like they would pour their resources elsewhere currently.
So perhaps the next closest solution would be to feed YT residents to somewhere with direct access to town instead, which BPJ seems to be a nice solution.

That is something I don't hope to happen with HK anytime soon. HK currently do have partial fare and tapping out on some services, but implementing distance fare would in my opinion cause the entire system to collapse into sg's less than functional state.
What makes HK buses fast and efficient (although it may cost a little more for long distance services) is that they run on a stepped fare scheme, with little transfer rebates.
The huge implication that this brings is that on long distance trunk services, (e.g. any of the XHT services), there would be almost no pax boarding after halfway as comparable fares on "local" services is a dollar or two cheaper. This greatly reduces the travelling and runtime of long distance trunk services as pax would only alight, whereas in SG most of the trunks would act as feeder halfway through the route, causing a significant slowdown.
real time updated for sv 972. as predicted, ppls standing at the door step towards Orchard during the morning peaks

And who would wanna take 75/171/960/970 all the way to CBD.
972 should be extended to YT...
Extend 700 to YT, not 972.
How 700 becomes redundant? If you extend 972 to Shenton Way, their routes are similar from Whitley to Shenton Way. Moreover, most pax on 700 come from BPJ Ring Road, who will now take 972.
The only exclusive part for 700 will be Petir Road.

Yes, expected. Even evening peak load not bad. It provides direct connection to the numerous HDB hubs in BPJ Ring road, more than 190/700 does. The way to having more people take buses is by providing services as much as possible directly to their homes - not possible everywhere.
Not too good in term of speed.. Lambat already driver still drive likes a tour bus.No sense of urgency. frequency wise looks like improving. SMRTConnect still not updated with the new service, only real time displayed at panels at selected bus stop.
Like ive said new svc need time for revised schedule
full load standing at the door step on friday night taking 3091.
the loudiest smrt man on duty looks like doing night shift. morning never hear his noice at block 270 bt panjang road. thought he kenna complained and sacked

Someone should observe loading on sv 700 and sv 190. Sv 700 buses not that full anymore. Already you can see difference within 2 weeks. Sv 190 I don't see major change. All buses still packed to door.

190 frequency dropped quite badly..today i waited at the bus stop opp phoenix lrt station at around 810pm, waited for 20mins and there wasnt any 190 spotted. End up boarded 706E on 975 at around 8.30pm..
On 972's first day of operations, the same thing occurred too...
Not sure about other weekends...weekdays is fine..

Maybe the resource from 190 is taken away again... and it seems like there's kinda less report of 925 Mercz on 190? :o

idk..hopefully not the case..just hope its just that all 190 buses are stuck in town due to traffic issues..if they reduce resources from 190, cck peeps will suffer hell...
972 bus arrival info available on LTA electronic panels at selected bus stops

This reminded me..last saturday at around 4.05pm the queue at 190 berth was crazily long too..queue till close to 67 berth..SMB342Z was spotted parkeing in the int with 190 EDS on..as i boarded 307 soon after, didnt managed to see how long the pax eventually waited and not sure if SMB342Z really did 190...
So thats 3 days out of 4 days of weekend possible... hmm...
171113 (Sun) --15-20mins wait, TIB872H came..
231113 (Sat) -- Case above
241113 (Sun) -- Did not spot..not sure
301113 (Sat) --20 mins wait no bus

Must be caught up in traffic. Then you will see 3-4 190 buses bunching up. You did not get 67 also for so long??

No resources are taken away from 190. I can assure you that. In fact, extra trips on weekends. It may be traffic that delayed the bus.

Again, I can guarantee, no resources are reduced on 190.
The frequency of 190 is good at Orchard Road - you see a bus every 04 minutes at least and many times 2 buses together. 972 loading also good at Orchard. I foresee 1-2 more buses added to 972. 700 will lose its bendy soon.

BSEP bro...
How will 700 lose bendy when 972 is BSEP...
