What time? Did you see 972 buses in opposite direction, what the loading was like?
i think tomorrow will have people standing at the door step when ppl start working.. during peak hours.
actually, one of the 972 bus is full house, the rest, should be about 50 to 60% full.
SMB 3088M was spotted around 4++pm with 0 passengers inside..
Boarded 3086T (972AP93) at around 4.15pm at blk 270 stop towards orchard..bus has around 20 pax when it goes up the expressway...
Not much boarding too. I think alot of people still unsure of the service. That timing was also the timing when 190 screwed up today. After TIB872H on 190 left, TIB1026C only came 20 mins later after SMB3086T, but pax still rather wait for TIB1026C, which was already full, then SMB3086T, which still has seats...
Observe few other buses on both directions and i saw that most of the buses still has seats in both directions, one of them even only had 1 pax (around 8.35pm at blk 270 stop towards orchard)
Think people still need to get use to the new service.

no lah 0 driver.
someone use remote control to control the bus.
Not remote control, the NTU auto bus.
whatever that was called
2h10mins run time I heard...
While i was driving along Orchard Rd saw 1 972 fully seated towards BPJ
972 will do well in coming weeks. First day loading not bad. Spotted a bus opposite 313 Somerset towards BPJ - already had good # of seating pax. Will go standing by the time, it reaches Scotts Road.
Not sure what time you saw it, but was at ion at 7.30pm yesterday the 972 had less than 10 pax. and the 190 habit behind was full to the door already. Takes some time to get used to the new route I suppose?Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:972 will do well in coming weeks. First day loading not bad. Still nothing, if ev1 just look at the towns all over SG, you will realise that every town will have a truck(not premium/express) service to:
1. Shenton Way/CBD
2. Orchard Rd
3. Kreta AyerExcept Buangkok, Punggol, Sengkang(none to ORC), WDL
Give an example:
Bedok: 2(Kreta Ayer)7,16(Orch), 196(CBD)
Boon Lay : 174 (orchard, kreta ayer, cbd)
Bishan: 54(Orchard/Kreta Ayer), 57(CBD),
Bukit Batok: 77,106 (Orchard,CBD ) , 61 (Kreta Ayer)
Bukit Panjang: 75(CBD), 700(Orc), 190(Kreta Ayer)
Upp Bukit Timah: 75(CBD), 77(Orchard), 961(Kreta Ayer)
Bukit Timah: 171(orc),
Buangkok: NIL
Changi North: 2(Kreta Ayer/CBD), 5(Orc)
Choa Chu Kang: 190(CBD, Kreta Ayer, Orc)
Clementi: 106(Orchard), 147(Kreta Ayer), 196(CBD)
East Coast/UEC: 14(Orc), 10(CBD), 12(Kreta Ayer)[Bedok South]
Ghim Moh: 111(Orc), 100(CBD)
Jurong East: 97(CBD), 105(Orc), 197(Kreta Ayer)
Marine Parade: 16(Orc), 196(CBD), 197(Kreta Ayer)
Pasir Ris: 5(Orc), 12(Kreta Ayer/CBD),
Punggol: NIL
Sengkang: 80(CBD/Kreta Ayer)
Sembawang: 167(Orc, CBD)
Simei: 5(Orc), 12(Kreta Ayer/CBD)
Tampines: 10(CBD), 65(Orc), 12(Kreta Ayer)[Tampines west]
Thomson: 167(Orc, CBD), 166(Kreta Ayer)[aft AMK]
Toa Payoh: 57(CBD); 143(Orc/Kreta Ayer)
West Coast: 51(Kreta Ayer), 143(Orchard. Kreta Ayer), 30(CBD)
Woodlands: 961(Kreta Ayer/CBD)
Whampoa: 124(Kreta Ayer/Orc), 186(CBD)
Yishun: 851(CBD/Kreta Ayer) ,167(Orc)[sembawang side]
To be specific, only Buangkok and Punggol dont have service to the three places.
And even more specifically, Punggol is the only town whose interchange serves no service to the three places.
I hope buses can utilise the KPE tunnel. Maybe starting from Punggol, a full day bus service that passes through Sengkang and Buangkok before entering KPE through Buangkok Dr, and then plying the "arterial-road-to-be" stretch of ECP? And then can be further extended to the west to provide a link to the west from the NE, especially from Punggol.

Stupid sia, MAN I see alot times got empty... Passenger different from driver. Also
its not driver onboard, its DRIVING. HOW CAN SIT DOWN AND DRIVE FROM BEHIND?
599 isn't helping either with 1 trip only...

Who is in the right mind take 961 from Woodlands to Kreta Ayer when theres alternative?Unless its a service like 190 which took less time to CBD

Some might, given the state of traffic in SG when BKE, PIE always have daily delays...
i am just giving an example of inadequate coverage of bus service routes for certain estates...

Agreed! And cck people definitely need more than just 190 to get to town...taking train is too long..therefore people choose 190, and thats the only choice. 982E, 590, 556 and 557 only operates 1-2 trips for AM and PM peak, which is definitely not enough! Think should have another service that operates full day or just renumber 982E to 982 and operate full day! Either that or extend 700 to cck or cut short 960 to terminate at cck (wdl rd portion got 178 and 961 cover and route duplicate with 961 somemore).
And i also agree that some estates have alot more svcs that bring them to town (eg: Bukit Panjang, Bukit Batok). Some locations are also so near to the MRT that people will take MRT rather than bus (Eg: Clementi, ToaPayoh)

A route was suggested for a Punggol, Sengkang, Hougang Ave 3,2, Eunos, Still Rd South, ECP, MBS, Shenton Way...

Liddat would rather take NEL... What is needed to achieve here is to have a sweet CBD route to cover Punggol and Buangkok and yet sweet enough for people to switch to bus from NEL, and thus relieving the load of NEL.
