Well, the old interchange is in operation for more than 10 years.. time for a new interchange looking... lok
Woodlands is not one of the 7 interchanges advertised by LTA in its Integrated Hub Plan.
The ones that are:
Bedok
Bukit Panjang
Marina South
Yishun
Joon Koon
Hougang
and one more... I think it is Pasir Ris if I am not wrong.

Jurong East.
And it's Joo Koon.

Some of the interchanges that are advertised by LTA in the Integrated Hub Plan and it will be renovated to become air-con bus interchange, to have seamless connectivity to buses, trains, shopping mall and (option) to have residences. They are:
Bedok
Bukit Panjang
Jurong East
Yishun
Joo Koon (U/C)
Tampines
Woodlands
If you are thinking of Punggol, considering the last

This is not the correct list. The correct list is the one I have posted with the correction of Jurong East.
Out of these Jurong East, Bedok, Bukit Panjang and Joo Koon are already U/C.
Yishun the announcement is out, so will go soon.
Marina South - I am not sure if the work has begun.
Hougang - No official announcement yet except for the LTA page claiming it.
This also means that the post on Woodlands getting demolished and re-constructed is not happening anytime soon. First Yishun will go, then Hougang announcement will come out and it will go.
It might still be a couple years away that Woodlands might go. If they are going to demolish it, I bet they will not build a new one without being under the integrated hub.

You have a good point there. After looking through the LTMP again it states that "Over the next 10 years we will build seven more at Bedok, Bukit Panjang, Hougang, Joo Koon, Jurong East, Marina South and Yishun together with developments in these areas."
The temp int could just be a temporary int while they upgrade the existing int to accommodate air-conditioning and perhaps tunnels to connect to TSL, and not rebuilt as an integrated hub.
From Forestville condo brochure...
> NEW Pedestrian Mall will be located besides the current Causeway point~~
> The Whole of Woodlands Regional Int(even the roads around it) + RP, Waterfront area till the Woodlands Industrial area, would be part of Woodlands Regional Hub.
> Thomson Line MAY link with the new cross-border railway[to/from Malaysia], and it would connect to TS1 Woodlands North Station.

I doubt it would be built into the Pedestrian Mall since it would be a waste of space (it takes high difficulty to make use of the underground int for shopping purposes).
But I agree with BusAnalyzer and Bus Stopping, the underground int may be closed temporarily until after TSL opens as part of a measure to ensure smooth construction works.
Nice find, but Causeway Point is to the south of the station. I wonder the condo person knows or not?
Hougang desperately need new bigger interchange so does Yishun

Yishun from the layout looks to be a smaller interchange than the one today. I hope HG at least remains the space it has. Bet HG Central and HG Ave 10, there is quite a lot of space to build a big interchange + mall.
LTA's interchange plan stated that WL is one of it, maybe it will undergo slight renovation a few yrs later
Hg better if underground

I meant building above ground, no touching to the ground, except that buses need to enter la
Originally posted by All the Best!:I meant building above ground, no touching to the ground, except that buses need to enter la
I know...
But what justifies an above ground int? For example, now there is this plot of x sq m. If you're gonna build an above ground int it would occupy that amount of space or a proportion of it, and thus wasting land that could be used for building apartments or used for mixed land use (trust me, you won't want to have a shopping mall with a bus interchange on top or in the middle of it).
And by "touching the ground" I mean that the amount of space you use above ground is equal to the space you use on ground. Using the example earlier, you cannot expand the int to more than x sq ft or it will eat into other places alr. But underground, since not all structures are built underground, or have underground elements, it can be expanded, but of course it depends on whether they have permit or stuff anot lah.
And would you want the buses to wind up and up the slopes to the int?
Can make two-storey interchange. With bus park downstairs and bus stops on the 2nd level. This way you use less ground space.
