Haha..I seriously dk what's the point of having full low floor buses..even countries like HK don't have full low floor buses...it's seriously making ppl's lives convenient + troublesome...

We’re finalising details for a new trunk service from Bukit Panjang to Orchard Road under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) in MID NOV 2013 to provide commuters with another travel option to ease crowding on service 190, and will announce it when ready.
what is the point? using all MAN A22????
more or less will fail as bad as 190 or even worse than 190.

Yes, you are right. I don't know what our pro-SMRT friends have to say.

Strangest thing I heard today. HK has been using LF DDs since 1997. Many years before we even had our first LF VSO.
It's LF? ._. I tot the DDs have some steps towards the rear? Pardon me
Then how about SDs? AFAIK, I don't recall any SD having full LF..

Not too many years. 9888Y was one LF VSO.

I thought MAN DD are 13.7m long?
So they already decide a new svc from Bpj loop at Orchard eh,Hmm i think will be one of the profitable svc...

The Tridents are all LF, like sbst's tridents. So are the VSOs.
Citybus's NL262/R which arrived in 1997 are LF SDs, so are the new youngman midis.
But I don't think its directly comparable. HK bus services are direct, and has a much lower passenger turnover rate unlike SG. Many bus routes here have a big change in passengers especially those plying MRT stations, and many pax also don't take the bus for long distances unlike in HK.
Thus, we need more standee space for crush loads and short trips, and hk needs more seats. SBST's B9TLs gives a good balance in this aspect though.
Hmm...what I really want to say is that Low Floor buses aren't really suitable for Singapore, like seriously.People do not even want to move to the rear after being shouted at, it's kinda sad to see. Last time before the MAN/Citaro arrive, I personally don't see much of this issue while travel.
My bad, I tot all the while these DDs are with Steps[like our VO3x, but only the rear portion].

There's also the 2-axles one..

I still maintain, what's the use? You could then just have full fleet bendy on sv 190 - if you are anyway going to add so many more buses to CBD/Orchard.

I can honestly tell you, the passengers are not putting effort to move to the rear more. I board 388S twice, and the bus became full just because the passengers space out themselves more than other svc do.
Last time the DAF cameo on 190, the passengers were not so space out as compared to today. [I know it's abit unfair to compare SD n Bendy]
As it turns out, underoperation is the cause of the incident. 6 missing trips resulting in the approximate loss of 700 passenger capacity. How to load all of them up on the remaining buses?

It depends. I have no idea what the final routing is, but going one-directional (e.g. 502/518) improves reliability (read: not getting stuck at Ochard Blvd) and gives home-bound passengers along Orchard Road an additional option of not having to walk all the way to the other end to take 190.
Deploying more buses to 190 alone will not help if all of them end up getting stuck and bunch together at one choke point (e.g. Chinatown during CNY).

There is one operating with Hong Kong Fire Services.

Maybe this route should give it to SBST or other NEW operator to do the job.
Today new buses the floor is not completey flat so how can many people move to the back? unless those girls dress very sexy move to the back then male people might cramp there. HAHAHA
SBST buy DD buses is right, at least 55 People can go upstair to sit and another 55 downstair. SMRT unless they bulid single decker with internal floor all flat and like it trian sit and have three doors people will still complain no space.

Another case of failure on SMRT side. Today PM peak, two 857 buses at an interval of 21 minutes came at Boon Keng MRT, and while some people could, some could not board the bus. Clearly, some had to wait for around 30 minutes to board the bus.
On the other hand every SBST bus that came - whether it was sv 64, 65, 66, 23, 133, 31 - there was not a single pax that was left behind.
