811 went from full fleet of Habits to mixed Habits and OCs and to be flooded with A22s with some Habits.
you know how bad are the A22 with regards to loading ...
and now having one A22 each in the 804 and 806 fleets.

In conclusion allow me to say that SMRT, though the worst operator I have ever experienced, is not all that bad and we cannot say SBST wins SMRT in EVERYTHING. period.
SBST had much more buses than SMRT does.
SBST is more on buses than compared to SMRT
besides, we know both are going different ways. therefore, you can't compare in that way. SBS back then had hard time over 190 when it has tons of DD spammed on it. even so, the basis of comparing is very much different, population then was little as compared to now. giving 190 back to SBST may or may not solve the problem.

You told this to the wrong person.
I was merely saying SMRT should not be assumed 100% inferior to SBST. For example, 965 vs 85. The TS is the one who fits your argument.

965 is semi-express service between Yishun and Sengkang however much of 965 fleet is A22s. even as 85 has a mix of taros, KUBs and a couple of DMs/Mk IVs, the loading patterns on both 965 and 85 are different.
85 copes well with the rigids, however 965 had problems with loading. sometimes had full bus packed to the brim.
previously 965 had bendies to cope with the load, ever since it went WAB, problem comes. 965 has numerous BSEP additions.
while SBST/CD had BSEP Wrights and Citaros, SMRT only had BSEP MAN.
860,904 ...
@SMB66X, AFAIK, svc 106 hv staffs deployed to bus stop.

It is really funny how you always compare 85 and 965. These two have completely different routes. The only common thing is that both of them ply Yishun Ave 2. Apart from that tell me one stop within Sengkang, these two have in common.
965 definitely has more loading than 85. If 85 had 965's route and vice-versa, I bet it would have split shift high capacity buses.

Agreed 860, 851E are worth having high capacity buses on them.

You don't comment on facts. Here they are: comment on the facts.
My main pain point is: LTA launched BSEP more than a year ago. SMRT floated the tender for high capacity buses more than a year ago. SBST got DDs as part of BSEP. SMRT got just MANs. After all this, there is still no decision from SMRT management on high capacity buses. The population growth is one of the highest in SMRT area. There are so many routes that need capacity enhancement. Today they take off one bendy from 61/ 811 / 969 then add it to another service and show it as improvement. To make services WAB, services have to suffer with lesser high capacity buses.
Good move on 811A. This was needed. You know why suddenly SMRT is introducing all these 811A, 857A, 969A because first it has taken away bulk of the bendies from these services 811/969. 857 needs bendies but are not awarded. To ease the heavy loading, they have no option now but to keep introducing short working trips in the high loading areas. Overall, this is further going to affect the capacity and frequency in areas out of the short working route. This to many may be an improvement but it is just re-aligning of resources to overcome their shortcoming. I know you will argue that SBST has it too, and that's why I am explaining the scenario above to you that it is to cover the loss of high capacity buses.
I repeat I am not biased against SMRT. I am just irritated with their slow decision making process to introduce high capacity buses and move to DDs, when it is the need of the hour for them. It will solve bulk of their problems.

851E?
do you mean 851
BTW 951E is a morning express svc to CBD
erm putting random rigids on 190 makes fail
is like putting SDs on 74 (i don't mind SDs on 74e)

Sorry. It was a typo. 951E is what I meant.
Well, I part of agree it. SMRT indeed have svc like 190. So what to do? Deploy DDs like SBST did back then

BSEP Morning and Evening Express seems to be a problem given that SMRT only obtains A22s for these services.
could make these to accomodate only seating pax, however it could lead to a bigger problem.

and soon there will be 811A lol
It is not how effective it is but how the drivers manage their schedule.
178's case the BSEP add was really redundant because most of the drivers reached 'very early' and it was enough for me to ride on other services.
Update from LTA for sharing...............
We are aware of the loading situation on Service 860. To help reduce crowding during the peak period on Service 860, a BSEP bus was recently added in August 2013. We are also working with SMRT to also bring in high capacity buses. These buses are scheduled to be delivered from mid 2014 onwards and we expect greater improvements then. SMRT was not able to bring in these buses earlier as the manufacturer required more time for production.
From Dr Lee Bah Wah's Fb post...
Wenya depot should be up then? And it could be MAN DD~~ Since there's A24 chassis ready[I presume], it won't take too long for production batch to roll out?
from LTA facebook......
We’re finalising details for a new trunk service from Bukit Panjang to Orchard Road under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) in MID NOV 2013 to provide commuters with another travel option to ease crowding on service 190, and will announce it when ready.
what is the point? using all MAN A22????

Rather have the service from BPJ to Orchard and give it to SBST with DDs. There are services like 67 that go to Tampines all through SBST area, then for ease of commuters, LTA should allow this as well.

How do you know it is DDs and not bendies?

It COULD be DD..
It's just my guess...and I just presume that A24 chassis are already in production[ready made], and with SMRT's current problem? Why not DD? haha

true... put wrights on this sv.... dunno why they still insist that services from certain areas must be under SMRT... now it is govt pay money mah.. so can just SBST or SMRT...

Might be A22 also. Who knows? A22s interior arrangement is a mess. I'd say its a LOW-capacity bus.
