Is there a need for a SMRT bus park near Geylang Lor 1? I think Kallang Road or Mountbatten is best location if yes... Can be used for GYL1 services, 61 and 966.
I was randomly searching Google and I found this article which mentioned the bus depot.
http://www.ktcgroup.com.sg/feature-project/civil-infrastructure/rd258-proposed-bus-depot-at-wenya/
The construction of the bus depot is slated to be completed on 30 June 2015. In other words, I guess it will be used only after Q2 of 2015.
this is a depot with surface-level no-roof parking space for buses.
The website say the depot is 2 storey. but I think actually it is 3 storey.
The first level probably consists of 2 storey, and the second level probably consists of 1 storey - tall enough to accomodate Double Decker bus.
somehow, part of the project involves constructing the remaining section of Bulim Avenue and a section of Bulim Drive. no wonder so expensive ($87,500,000).
Deadline given is mid 2014 but with modern construction and engineering probably by February already completed.Kok Tong shareholders mostly got connection with people in white so not surprise bigger projects they always get
I got an update.
the big blue sign by LTA is up already at bulim st saying...
"Construction of bus depot in wenya"
Contract no: RD258
spotted that when i jog around bulim ave/st just now =)
Hopes Ayer Rajah and SMRT Ang Mo Kio replacement will come soon. These 2 depot/bus park really need to expand judging the areas they purview.Maybe SMRT is the first one getting an underground depot?Who knows?
Wenya depot seems really important indeed... Wonder if KJDEP will shift there...

Partial control with KJDEP: 925 (possible)
Full control: 184, 189, 941, 945, 947, 972, 975

Wenya/Bulim Depot is in Jurong, Kranji Depot is in Woodlands. They are each located in a different region of Singapore. It is not wise to supply buses for bus services in the North from a depot in the West.
anyway, I thought the deployment of bus services to Bulim Depot was already announced last week? Bulim Depot is for bus services in Tengah, Bukit Batok, Clementi, Jurong East and Jurong West (New town and Taman Jurong).
I think Kranji Depot is for bus services in Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang, Yew Tee, Lim Chu Kang and Woodlands.
Bulim Depot.
Bulim Depot to start operation on 17th Aug 2014.
Services: 61, 77, 106, 172

Even CCK services from Bulim? I thought for now would be only BBDEP... but is Bulim already ready.. think 17 Aug is too soon.
Would it matter?
SMRT will likely only have this depot for a short short while.

... those services are to be tendered in 1 1/2 years later.

As some seniors here mentioned, all the current depots are either full or unsuitable to take in more non-BSEP DDs...I think the time comes just right.

Very good. Happy with the efficiency if it is already ready :)

I'm not surprised about 172... Bulim Depot is much nearer to Boon Lay Int than Kranji Depot.

More like Bulim will be tendered out to form the core of the tender package...

Ya okay... doesnt matter anyway... i didnt say because of Boon Lay.. but cck is closer to Kranji.. Either way ok if BPJ/Boon Lay/BBT services operated by Bulim.

think routes that requires DDs to cover those routes that bendies are not productive to handle huge loads such as Svc 172 will be handled by SBST?
