If they are going for rigids I rather they exit the bus business in 2016 and hopefully be taken by some other operators with better decision making.
I'll prefer they keep rigids, no increase in populations haha
They won't be so bad in decision making to go full rigids. There's definetely a solution, just the matter of time. Probably a MAN DD instead~~ But still, with the current status, they can't solve it smoothly. I suspect they will continue with the A24s, but lesser quantity before getting the DDs. Or else, they would just pump in some DDs influx with bendy operations[with the bendy extending], to stabalize the transfer.
Rigid bendy buses ..... Mad this SMRT the milk has decades since expired and they r still crying over it..... They are simply cocking themselves up thru every aspect , from incompetent management to lazy employees who simply know too well that company won't care with strightening things up
I mean , sembawang and yishun are really under full and unrivalled control which enables high management in SMRT to do what the f**k they please with routing control , seriously if anyone want to know why there is no major improvement in bus services and facilities in sembawang is because there are no new routes going anywhere thus no unecssary commuters are brought through the area so development would be slow....
All points back to SMRT management for not introducing more service through sembawang , so FOLKS expecting DD from SMRT , dream long long actually you can dream until man a24 is scrapped maybe due to licensing problems

yeah
those trees

there should be some mini buses for low density
full rigid, single deck is not working.
ordering so many A22s for what?

Yeah, buses like AE200 will be highly recommended.
I don't understand why SMRT bought the MAN NL323 as a single-deck rigid bus.
If you buy a single-deck citybus that is more powerful than a double-deck citybus (Volvo B9TL Euro V), diesel consumption is going to be similar or even exceed the double-deck bus. No prizes for guessing what impact this would have on SMRT Buses' operating costs in the long-term.
The MAN NL323 can be built as a double-deck bus. There is one 2-axle example Gemilang had built for Hong Kong Fire Services.
What is more mind-boggling is the NG363F...Nobody buys a Ferrari and throttles its engines to operate like a sedan.

it is confirmed chop and stamp as finalised.. it is in the interchange speficiation of the HDB/LTA tender documents... 27 rigid lots/21 bendies lots for temp interchange, 33 rigid lots/13 bendies lots for the new interchange..

confirmed that the newinterchange can accomodate DDs..... if want prove, go read the tender documents (the link is in the first post, but too bad, think the doc have been removed as tender have closed)..

to save initial cost.. as simple as that... they look at the initial cost but never check the future running costs.
In singapore particularly city buses no need for such high output for a single deckers when most buses are limited to 60kmh only.Dont you know that high output engines need to drive fast once a week to clear carbon? Imagine A22 having to drive only 60-65 and long term your engine valves and turbocharger will clogged with unburn carbon.SBST on other hand should invest more above 250hp rigids and at least 300hp Deckers which on other hand save fuel although their massive fleets

PS, didn't see ur lines clearly. I tot you're mentioning the current and tempo only.

can accomodate DDs but
the two SBST svc 39 and 85 do not need any atm
85 also needs to wait for the action on PGL side
SMRT Buses, i dunno

5 years later , you wont know what happen.maybe yishun service all taken over by SBST?
maybe SMRT handover bus operation already.

39 only need 3 DDs the most that run during split if they need too,85 won't la Citaros full fleet also can.
Once temp interchange is up, foresee sv 39 to get 2 split shift DDs.
I feel that 85 need some fleet add leh, took it that time and gotta wait for more than 14mins for 1 bus :/ I feel that the frequency is too long.

14 mins long meh? Better than SMRT service 178 ,178 is the one that need fleet add,I need to wait 17-20 mins for a bus

More than 14mins, not 14mins. It's somewhat like waiting for 178 if I'm not wrong. Anyway, it's on the websites also - 17 to 20mins after 1900. I feel that there should at least cut short to 12-15mins...
And don't compare with 178. 178 is rather low demand, no doubt the frequency will be 20mins long. You can't expect them to waste $$.

But the load of 85 does not justify better freq leh. Unless you took it at peak hours which I believe will not be more than 14 mins coz I rmb clearly svc 85 coming in 7-9 mins during peak.

178 needs atleast 12 full day buses on all occassion not 11.
Low demand are you sure? Try again. I boarded 756K on 178 last sun and there were still a certain demand of crowds wanting to board 178.
