Same question. I am confused how 141 will reduce load on 145. Their routes are completely different.
if you look at the route 141 in it is more or less like 145 or 139 but it serve some area where both of them not served and some people can take 141 to reach the place at the "door step" compare to 145 or 139 has to walk a bit distance. And I think SBST should not even remove the very old service 141 in the 80s at all. more or less the same route. create so much inconvenience for people in the area than bring back after many years later. Mr yeo and ma make transport system in the mess when mrt first started than after PAP lost many vote, LL bring back some old bus services repackage as new. by the way, not the express 141 but the 141 way before that.
service 57 has serve the same old 146 and express 141 route only thing it extened to bishan and bt merah.

Furthermore, since wsy1234 claim to be that old… may I know does he know Toa Payoh Rise was not a designated ‘through’ road prior to the widening?
and.. 57 has been around for a number of years.. coming to 10 years in fact… Nothing to do w/ LTY…
Dunno how to play, dun start playing politics… Even Bus 57 is new sv.. I didn’t know.. thank you wsy1234…
the old 141 never go to toa payoh rise. and toa payoh rise road was in the 70s and 80s link to the toa payoh hospital which is history. so the road was a small one way road link to car park. and the old 141 before the old bus interchange was bulided, it passed by kim keat ave which is now a small road link to hdb car park, rangoon road on the way to shenton way (CBD area). the NEW 141 has part of the older 141 route included. maybe due to poor demand the older 141 service was removed.
when the interchange was bulid 141 come back and change to express service to serve toa payoh to robinson road (CBD area) before MRT started to operate.
I do not try to play politics, I just said it is the transport system a bit mess up because of very poor planing by transport ministry under MR yeo and MR ma when MRT system first started. goverment force people to take MRT so that MRT can made profit and remove some bus service without thinking. express 141 was one of them.
57 is not under the LTA plan but under SBST. SBST bring back some of the route by the old 146 and 141 to serve people. maybe to try to reduce MRT work load, but it is a good service as demand is good all the time and help 56 to reduce work load also. and at least mrt break down toa payoh and bishan has a direct service to CBD area.
Maybe because of it past that why LTA name the new service 141 again so that old folks can take the new service without problem remembering the number.

It is numbered 141 because it just makes sense. It starts from Toa Payoh, where you have svc 139, 142, 143, 145. The options were either 140, 141 or 144. Considering that the route is parallel to 131 between Thomson and Farrer and 131 also goes to Owen / Kentish, 141 is the right choice.

I am not too sure. If at all, 141 will help to relieve the load on 131 between Pei Ko Estate and Novena MRT. Just gives people another option to MRT.
What is the berth for 141? I plan to joyride next week towards Wed / Thu.

Then why can I number it 152 uh huh? Also got 155, 157 and 159 what.
Makes no sense for a svc number to adjust to parallel services too.
if you notice toa payoh bus service number 14x 15x all from north east, centre and west area of singapore and all the 8 26 31 88 go to the east of singapore only 73 the different. and 5x all ended at bishan. only 51 out of the way.

141 is the best out of all these choices. For the reasons mentioned above. You got problem with the number 141???

Obviously someone claiming he is from the past knows nothing... May I know how 8, 31, 88 came about? 31 this number came from MRT rationalisation.. w/ merger of Sv 149 into Sv 31. So the original bus Sv no is 149. Sv 8 was an entirely new service in 1989. Sv 88 came in 1998... 14X, 15X era bus svs was from 1970s, 1980s era... 14X & 15X number heading were allocated to Toa Payoh Svs originally... Obviously... bus kids
Bus kids act know everything cannot trust~ only BIS truly know real info and most reliable and trusted~
like sbst275 and smb388s
According to Sgwiki, 141 no wrights...

if a DD is being put into 141, i will joyride 141 again in the future.
i took svc 141 near noon time on SBS6397S.
this bus must be a new bus since a strong plastic smell onboard.
upon reaching TPY int, i saw a guy in green taking photo at the junction, and upon taking the bus outta TPY back to lor 1 geylang, i saw this same guy in green and a guy in brown in the opposite side of interchange taking photos.
My motivation in joyriding 141 this time, is that i used to live in pek kio area for 15 years and all the while only got 131. secondly it's Gloucester road which used to be a small road leading to the carpark only. Can u imagine now i feel when the bus is turning into Gloucester road?

Haha... That time Joo Chiat Rd tio car langa a svc 33 citaro went INTO the carpark XD
141 is short service. No need DDs,just SD buses only can liao

141 could never get Wrights coz of low hanging branches in Pek Kio Estate. Same reason as why 145 have no DDs due to Henderson road.

yes this is part of it, another is the spot of the bus stop at gloucester road used to be a stadium, the road before the bus stop from blk 9 used to be a grass patch. gloucester road only leads to the blk 9 carpark last time. the other side exit leads to Owen road.
Owen road along with Race course road used to be a continuous straight road until each road broke into 2 parts due to NEL Farrer Park MRT.
