SMRT losses are increasing. TIB501D, looks like your speedy master buses are not helping either. Keep purchasing more bendies, increase maintenance, increase costs, reduce earnings (read sarcasm). Yawn!!
Time to terminate those RWS and reduce the fare for NR svc. They should invest more low entry buses and of course DDs.Forget bout premium svc and should just buy 12m buses for bus plus to run it.

Maybe a small quantity will do. The feeders/Intratowns can use the bendies while others will have to use DDs.
those costly technological gadgets ie. announcer system, passengers information systems are really under-utilized

The PIS is very useful for those who are unfamiliar with the service and area... I believe they have some plans for the PA system...
Maybe the refurbishment of the 600+ buses contributes to this...

and higher depreciation costs for new buses.

It's the cost of refurbishment, and not what kind of bus they buy that caused them to bleed money.

You still don't get it... why SMRT is bleeding into losses... never mind... can't expect much from silly bendy fan boys!!

PIS is indeed useful
but i see some buses with PIS showing static route (e.g. Yishun Int) throughout; some of them have delays and shows wrong bus stop reference; some showing depots (e.g. AMDEP); (SMB145B's PIS showing nothing except "Bus Stopping")
they could make it better like their STARiS and VFDs on trains

not only refurbishment, the routes they operate are also not profitable
PA system can be enhanced to announce the bus stop reference names along with the road name, security announcements for buses, no eating/drinking announcements for buses

This is incorrect.
Go crunch the numbers in the annual report before you say that.
In fact SMRT buses raked in more revenue per bus km than SBST.

Rubbish.
SBST refurbished all their MKII, 0405, MKIII and they did not make losses of this amount.
The total number of these buses in fact exceed the entire SMRT fleet combined.

maybe i don't really understand
Dont under-estimate the additional costs when BCs chiong.
A study in China on chiongster truck drivers found that they consume 30% more fuel.
Go chew on that.

they way SMRT refurbishes their buses is different. they overhaul the bus, rip off the doors and seats, repaint the interior and doors, change seat covers and retune the aircon.

here the maximum speed for buses is at 70km/h
LTA please check all the buses ...

most likely the GPS on board the bus isnt working if the PIS shows static stops... because from what i heard the PIS is dependant on the IDFC. normally if the GPS sot the BC/SL changes the distance manually.
i guess AMDEP didnt bother to program 145B's PIS

60 kmh.
normally chionging is caused by tight timetables... if not the SL wont bother to chiong and even try to drag time
