Man charged with stealing SBS Transit
A 27-year-old man was charged in a district court on Thursday with stealing an SBS Transit bus. Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Basir allegedly stole the $302,639 bus at Buona Vista bus terminal between 9.06pm and 9.24pm on Jan 9. He is also accused of driving the vehicle when he had no Class 4 driving licence and driving without insurance coverage. Bail of $15,000 was allowed and he will be back in court on Feb 7. If convicted of theft, he could be jailed for up to seven years, fined and banned from driving. For driving without a licence, he could be fined up to $1,000 or jailed for up to three months. For the insurance offence, the maximum penalty is a $1,000 fine and three months' jail.

I remember 1 case in Tiong Bahru where a man stole a private bus to drive himself and his friends home after missing the last public bus.

Imagine the perm BC's reaction when he realise that his bus is missing when he want to start trip...
All buses are equipped with GPS tracker and some with CCTV so you cant really go far with a stolen bus...

This man is likely to be familiar with the operations of the buses at bus parks...that's why he can go into the bus and drive the bus away from the terminal.

He don't have a Class 4 driving licence, how could he be an ex-driver?

U forgot that majority of SBST n SMRT bus drivers also dun have class 4 let alone vocational license.Those 4A is issue by public bus co so that class 3 holders can drive auto public buses only.If they resign they are left with only class 3 after 1 year
