According to SGWiki, yes. Total 14 DDs.
But short of 1 bus though...

Important to know what this 1 bus is ~ is it a SD or DD? I advocate full fleet DD for s23. After all it is an express service, pity for people to stand all the way, plus has good loading in both directions (HL in your words)
Total run time on s179 is 35 minutes during peak hours. If you consider rest time at Boon Lay as another 10 minutes, total time for bus = 45 minutes.
If 179 has 03 minute frequency, should have 15DDs, if 02 minute frequency then 22-23 DDs. It puzzles me as to how are there 27-28DDs deployed on s179/179A. Is the frequency less than 2 mins? I don't think so.
If someone could please explain.

svc 179 doesn't run full fleet almost about 90% of time.. Consider the crossover and emergency switch over to other services..
eh, i think let sbst275 explain..

SGWiki did not state whether it's a DD or SD though... 23 full fleet DD should be the best way, same for 65(which is full DD for now).

You sure 179's run time is 35min?

179’s schedule is pretty complex w/ some diff…
like 0515 till 1st full trip there’s downroutes from Pioneer Rd Nth towards BNL.
There’s crossovers from 241 > 179 during the AM peak, especially after 0745 – 0800 period…
The 242 ADD will crossover to 179A/ 179 after 0745.
All 179A duties will do 1 more S179 trip before swing [for the S Shifts]. That’s where the 2 mins freq comes from.
That’s AM peak…
PM peak… is where the colourful part comes about…
I did a full loop in 35 mins. Yes, there was no traffic. Still believe won't be more than 45 mins. Correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway, what is the colourful part that you are referring to?

162-+3 DD in exchange for 3 KUB
Reason because i waited 30 min at my school and no bus come, when it come it was packed
Nobody ask you take 162.
My brother is from ai tong school and he has a direct 162 to take while going home from school. But instead he takes 52/162/410 out to upp thomson rd and take 132/165/166 instead.
PM peak ops for 179A never fails to entertain sbst275
I don't understand why SBST refrains from full fleet DDs for some routes. Apart from s65, s98, s179 and JIS services, there are many other bus services that deserve full fleet DDs.
s23, s25, s72, s87, s88, s99, s161, s168, s241
For most of these services, there is just 1 SD that makes it short of full fleet DD. The route has high loading, so why deploy that 1 or 2 SDs? Advertisements can't be a justification as many of the SDs on these services don't even have ads. There is something more to it.

Umm, SBS2709C has an ad.. But it cameoed on 325 today.
And whenever TPE got something crop up, random SDs, especially KUBs from 27 will be pulled over to do 161.
Mostly of the svc with a couple of SDs got other svc run parallel towards certain places

s23, s25, s72, s87, s88, s99, s161, s168, s241 should be full fleet DDs. The SDs should be transferred to svc like 13, 153 and their DDs should be pulled on to these services - makes much more sense.
s74 is another service that should get capacity addition. SBST has not done anything for this svc in 2012, but I am surprised that even through BSEP it didn't get fleet add or capacity increase.
Taking 74 can be a very frustrating experience.
They are still throwing Citaro and KUB and Striders to this service, which really knows no peak hours.
The only saving grace is its ok frequency, though nowhere as good as the 1990s and early 2000s where the buses used to come one after another and 74 had full DD fleet (PAC).

The question is WHY. SBS has been really good in increasing capacity of buses in last few months. They have had multiple higher capacity increase for many services - s5, s43, s52, s55, s72, s76, s86, s88, s90, s94, s98, s109, s157, s163, s174, s225, s334.
I really wonder why s74 is completely singled out, especially considering that it is a cashcow for SBST.

Maybe 74 is already maximised in the number of buses they can give and also the frequency. Just like the case of 190 that they can't really do anything about it?
Probably the majority of 74 earnings only through school and school fares still low behind adult fares?
Very obvious school fare not attractive.
Much of 74's pax comes also from SIM, SP, NP, AMK, HG area.
In fact the whole route less the one near buona vista is nearly full-house even for DD, much less SD, for most of the day and night.
But quite frankly, 74 is still ok. At least if the SD skips stops, usually a DD comes within 10 min.
The one that's NOT ok is 72. 15-20 min night frequency when so many people take this service from YCK, HG, Tamp is not ok. And not to mention the horrifically slow driving. Especially off-peak timing. It makes a journey from Tamp to HG at a leisurely 45min at times when car takes only 15min! A ride to Pasir Ris by train, followed by a switch to 88 takes 35min only by contrast.
