What about HK's NWFB buses? They had one big depot in Chai Wan (and another two smaller ones) and I can see the buses at the complex are doing well, no jams outside the depot too. The depot I see there have multi-storey parkings, and all types of support located either at one of the levels of the complex or in the terrain spaces next to the complex. Though to be honest their buses are a little less well-managed than Singapor. (more of like SMRT standard) but still are able to be called "standard buses".
Multi-storey complex do take more money to build, but at least they can cater to more buses and thus saves the money used to lease plots, buy equipment and pay the staff (multi-storey complexes uses less equipment and staff in total than a few single-storey depots).
Yep. Thus the money are quite worth too. Anyway, Singapore isn't that big to need so many depots to serve a small red dot.
[Mercedes Benz O405G/Hispano] 17 years have passed, and it is time for the retirement of the very first articulated (more commonly known as bendy) bus introduced into service as a demonstrator in Singapore. The last day of service is 12th March 2013.
It was airflown in by the local Mercedes Benz agent for Trans Island Bus Service (TIBS) ahead of Singapore Bus Service's own articulated buses (Volvo B10MA, later followed with a Mercedes Benz O405G), with a bodywork that follows the earlier Hispano "Box" O405s, and aptly inherited the "box bendy" nickname. It did its maiden service on service 171.
It was registered in the middle of the Scania L113CRL ELBO bodied buses between TIB833X to TIB848D - TIB838H for its auspicious numbering of 3 and 8. Farewell, you have made a great history with the production vehicles following with O405G with Hispano (MK I, II and Habit) and Volgren bodywork.
Seen here is the vehicle on its last permanent service 180 with its original Hanover flipdot signage that was used on the earlier Hispano bodied CACs O405s.

Think its one to one exchange for the new A24.Im not surprised if they retire other 29 MKI bendies too.

I can always see one in Woodlands since the deployment for the Mk1 for 184 is (WLDEP 184/SP) so still got possibility of jumping around on WL svc
838H not extended and revenue items all remove.
What a waste really. If next year all 849B-904A are completely gone from our streets, I'd say it is really a waste because they've wasted millions of it.

Originally posted by TIB868X:Few points. The new bus park beside WLDEP is very likely going to be a single storey one, able to support double decker buses and most probably bendy buses as well. and IMHO, ONP should continue for feeders, intratowns and 950. interchanges were never meant to have buses park there overnight. at most park feeder and intratowns there, dont rub salt into wound by parking trunks there (except 950, WRI nearer to CIQ than WLDEP although not by much)
The parking area(minor few) are not suitable for DDs.
TIB838H de-registered.
Farewell.
I do hope if SMRT decide not to go with A24 they can trial Bustech CDi decker 12.5m Cummins ISL 8.9litre 340hp/1550nm rating
Good idea
