The ground still needs clear distinction and the TIs to control the BCs on the ground after all.. which is why I’ve stated in reality it’s best it’s entire rt given to SBST…
The tfr of BCs will under control of SMRT for an interim period of them...
SBST would not be involved in day to day matters of the BCs on loan[i have reason to believe there is a hotline catered to report unhappiness(if any) from SBST BCs back to HQ].
Most of the buses engines from SBST/SMRT are from EUR, it is standardised and getting used to the driving experience and route familiarisation is the main issue.
Its to do with face.
I'm also sure the uniform will be SMRT one.
The system works only if the 2 operators pull their weight.
Period.
Common sense tells us the best way to solve this labour crunch with minimal disruptions to commuters is to have SBST take over one or two routes from SMRTB.
Reasons:
SBST has a ready pool of buses and drivers (30/45) familiar with their buses. why wasting one week time and resources training SBST drivers driving SMRTB. It makes no sense to me.
If due to cost issue, let the bloody SMRTB pays for it since it is their mistake in the first place. Never recruit enough drivers for contigency because of cost savings.
Ideally route 190 is best since the no. of buses it requires according to wiki is around 45.

But wouldn't the SBST PRC start a strike when they take over the route? I mean it's like more drivers would be required to drive those route? Means that some gotta work longer also. :o
It doesnt even make sense to arm-twist SBST into helping SMRT to start with.
It isnt like SBST doesnt have its own routes to take care to start with.
Yes. I scratch my back, you scratch yours. But it muddles the system where there's supposed to be competition.
If they want to reduce the muddle further, and save some face also, its best to show these SBST guys the least SBST-like traits.
And that involves taking the labour.
And only the labour, and absorb them with SMRT assets and management.
Well, the 30 drivers is on loan from SBST. If seriously due to shortage of drivers from SBST side, they can postppone the introduction of svc 50, which is understandable. I think after this saga, not only PRC drivers will think carefully before they go on strike, singaporean will also think twice. I really salute the people who make the top decisions, let's see what's their outcome in a week.
SMRT kena scolding already from the COI.
Now SMRT kena scolding round 2 from MOM.
Sad to say, this is just my point of "why we cant just let SMRT do as it wishes and ignore since I dont live there" as many of the people have pointed out everytime people say that bendies are trouble and so on, being driven home.
Why shld people bother about what SMRT as a private entity does?
Because its a PUBLIC SERVICE they are providing. Any trouble they cause will have spillover effects into the rest of the market.
When will the kids get this into their heads?

The one week training for route, equipment was from ComfortDelgo spokesperson appeared in Dec 2 edition of TNP.
Based on historical territory segregation by transport authorities, to minimise customer confusion on the sudden deployment of SBST buses on SMRT routes, i do not think any SBST buses will run on SMRT routes during this interim period.
The authorities already have a headache last week, they do not want another incident where local commuters making noise and shock from another fiasco.
SMRT OCC will know that their buses are deployed on time, kept to schedule with their own buses on the road rather than that of SBST.
I gather the redeployed SBST BCs are SG/PRs rather than from PRC.
The PTOs have no say in this, transport authorities are the one managing this, so do not think SBST is kind to lend BCs to SMRT.
It is School Holiday schedule for most if not all services, so BCs on scheduled OFF/LEAVE should still be able to go

suddenly can you collect bus ads etc to supplement your income? how are you going to justify it??
Good question.

Are you purposely spelling it that way?
Curious, how much is the cost to send the 29 PRCs back to China today.
Say the each ticket cost $400 * 29 = $11,600?
190 got one female PRC driver, not sure if she kenna or not.

well, PM lease bus to RPKL due to not enough buses while SMRT have buses with no enough SLs...
Even if not enough bus, can release the "3xxx" buses from BSEP for use, so no nd to use SBST equipment
Suspect SBST will also go on hiring spree as the loaned out drivers might wan to tfr to SMRT perm...

depend on destination lor. and what airline.
and you must also count in their 3 months salary (1 pro rated + 2 months bonus [if i never read wrongly]) + winter clothing. maybe costs nearly 50k?
Yes.
And who will drive for SMRT now that the publicity becomes like this and everybody hears about the 6 day week?
Expect to see changes in the remuneration structure as well.

as of now i dont think there are spare 3XXX BSEP buses for SMRT... i prefer them use KUBs because they are most familiar with it.
