No choice, if you wan better standard, the best is to use our local efforts~ But I think more Singaporeans would take up this job when the company have more drivers. But as a Chinese, I pity them. During CNY, when we Singaporeans Chinese are celebrating, they are the ones whom transport us about, together with the non-Chinese drivers.

This is not a matter that can be resolved easily. As long as bus fares are not increased, the wages for bus captains/service leaders will continue to be kept low even as inflation continues to grow. At the same time, the low pay offered means that very few locals would want to be bus drivers. The only way forward is that we change our mentality about how ridiculously cheap public transport must be and pay the drivers better. We can no longer expect world class public transport at low fares.

Fare increase =/=> wage increase.
The 2 bus divisions have either been losing money or ekes out a little profit at best (SBST).
Makes you wonder right....if SMRT purportedly pays its BC shit, then why its comparatively small fleet of bus and BCs still ends up losing much more money in absolute terms than SBST?
Perhaps its a story of management and scale economics.

Probably very poor management as evident from the MRT breakdowns and terrible maintenance of their buses. Fare increases may not directly result in wage increases but that's the only way to increase revenue, though the rest of the income division lies in the hands of the management. You wouldn't want cost-cutting instead right? Anyway, the public transport fares are really disproportionate to the state of our economy. Maybe fares should be increased to Hong Kong levels, since Hong Kong is quite similar to Singapore in terms of economic structure, population size and daily ridership.

Fucker still say his attitude humbler than Singaporeans, even while on a strike, how ironic.
Try this shit in China then, they will be gunned down. They just want to exploit their new found freedom and get as much money as possible. -

With the help of media, they may get their pay increase.
Cheap = Dumb and Obedient (The management who think that they can be bullied better get their head re-examined)
This will not be the isolated case as lots of other are looking the outcome.
How come no millionsters come forward to ask them to integrate and to be cheaper, better and faster ????
