can be anything. but i think if its a 'yes' they have to do so for all pee arse shit. if not they have to expect more strikes. but if i CEO i will not do it. what's their worth like the can speak english? the reason why they are even here i they are cheap, and i beleive SMRT sacrificed cheap over quality.
if 'no' they have to prepare for exit stategy. we commuters donlt want anymore strikes or funny show later during rush hour. we can dont care about increasing fares, but is this the service we get? if the bus stops sullenly, even if commuter shave time also have to stand or sit on the bus floors, becasue all smrt buses got barely any seats 1

they chose to work here. why should SMRT obey to them? not happy balik kampong lor
we'd see. but mayb they only buying time to prepare and reschdule the backups. i agree we willnot want to work with people who use threats. good its not too late to sum up how many prcs drivers they have and send those troublemakers back first. return ticket deductable from their pay. they strike boycott refuse to work over issue that can be handled by talks, casued many problems to traffice delays., against sg law. they don;t expect to get compensated.
I think SMRT will, sack em all.
Those people who striked made themselves look like some fools, they ownself ENROLL themselves to join...
It is just like you was sent to detention and he asked the teacher to have detention at home...

Then who will drive those 102 buses?
if you were given $75 to do the same thing as your friend who got $275 + 1 month wages, would you feel slighted?

SMRT statement on mainland Chinese bus drivers' protest
Published on Nov 26, 2012
9:59 PM
Transport operator SMRT has just released this statement on the mainland Chinese bus drivers who did not turn up for work this morning:
"This morning, 102 of our Service Leaders (SLs) for our buses who were recruited from China (PRC) did not show up for work. As a result of their absence, a number of our bus services were affected. We apologise to commuters and the public who were inconvenienced by the affected bus services.
In recent salary adjustments for our SLs, SMRT gave salary increment to all SLs who joined the company before July 2012. These 102 PRC SLs were not happy with their increment. We regret that they chose to express their unhappiness about their salaries in this manner, especially when our lines of communication with them are always open.
Talks between our management and the SLs started this morning and ended this evening at about 6 pm. This group of PRC SLs will be returning to work tomorrow.
We thank Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Home Affairs for their assistance in this matter.
Once again, we apologise to commuters and the public for the inconvenience caused."
i hope they will drive carefully tml and not try pull stunts since this is kinda not officially settled to both parties satisfaction.
Kinda reminded me of the manager @ breadtalk at AMK...
The manager will scold the workers no matter what state they're in.
Loudly and in front of the public. I pity those workers.

Not to those who do not "role-take".
SMRT's policy of hiring PRC drivers have sowed the seeds of this strike and possibly more future strikes. But I see it as this; the PRC drivers cannot go on strike again in fear of losing their jobs and work permits but neither can SMRT afford to lose 102 bus drivers because it'll cripple their bus operations (look at what happened just now)
YES, THEY CAN. SMRT won't shut down because of 102 expendable employees. So they get fined for causing inconvenience, how much? $10000 slap on the wrists?
if you look at the benefits tied to their salary, its reasonable. at least SMRT gave them a shelter over their heads. better than renting a 3 room flat at about $500 - $1000 each month, and having to make their own way to the depot, be it by public transport or having a motor/taking cab right?
it is still quite a feat to be able to gather 102 of them to do it.
or isit 200.........
75 or 275 its a matter of contract they sign. Why must strike now?
Salary and cramped living conditions - SMRT's bus drivers from mainland China who didn't turn up for work on Monday told The Straits Times that these are their main grouses.
Early on Monday, 102 of them - and not about 200 as earlier reported - didn't turn up for work.
Some drivers living in a dormitory in Serangoon joined others at a Woodlands dormitory to express their unhappiness.
An SMRT spokesman said Monday night that talks between management and the drivers started in the morning and ended at about 6 pm, and they "will be returning to work tomorrow".

looks good what.........

If SMRT lose them, who will run the 102 slots? Plus, LTA can press a fine on SMRT too. In Singapore, the FT is government's precious one~ Without them, the economy sure drop. Then back for us, as a Singaporean, we have no choice but to "suffer" lorh~
Anyway, now you see is just a small act, who knows this might trigger the entire PRCs in Singapore, even from SBS Transit. If the government can't handle this issue carefully, say goodbye to peace liao. These PRCs mind isn't as simple as what we Singaporeans see.
By right those Malaysian cannot get 275,175 is good enough. They bring back oso reach 2.2k equilevent to RM4.9k..

Today, they went on strike, who ran the slots? They now have another week to plan how to run those 102 slots. LTA can press a fine, how much? Enough to make SMRT go bankrupt? Shut them down?
The PRCs in SMRT are SMRT's 'Precious Little Treasures' (from Chinese Cinderella) - but only because SMRT chose to mass recruit from PRC
