Lianhe Zaobao News: Lianhe Zaobao reporter Wei Yu reported dissatisfaction with wages and accomadation conditons, as a result, more than a 100 chinese PRCs SMRT service leaders called in sick this morning and refused to start work.
According to an interviewee bus captain, he said that the "sick leaves" were from Woodlands and Kranji Depots. Later, drivers from AMK depots decided to join in.
They gathered at the Woodlands HQ, where SMRT employees are still consulting them. However, the scene does not appear to be chaotic.
From Jiangsu Province, surnamed Wang, bus captain 36 y/o, told reporters that the wages for chinese national SLs were lower Singapore and Malaysian drivers, plus they had no opportunities to do overtime. They earned 2000 yuan in previous month including overtime, however they only earned about 1400 yuan now. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the hostel environment is poor and sick leave will buckle salary.
This is the best i can do, hope i helped.

thanks.
a singaporean SL told me that since they arrived, they have been snatching away overtime from the singaporean/malaysian/PR drivers, so the SG/MY/PR drivers complained to the management. then management removed overtime and cut down working hours but raised the pay for all drivers.

Singaporeans are known to be kiasi and hence they will not take sick leave together at the same time and they fear that the management will blacklist them after the incident is over.

Nonsense.
Property prices go higher because now people need to stay closer to work and school.
