Commuters have expressed concerns about the affordability of public transport, said chairman of the Fare Review Mechanism Committee Richard Magnus.
The committee has held discussions with two groups of commuters including students, homemakers, working adults, union leaders and senior citizens.
Mr Magnus, in a blog post on Monday, said that most commuters felt that public transport fares are generally affordable to the average Singaporean.
However, they raised concerns that fare increases have an uneven impact on different groups of Singaporeans, especially on the low income.

Instead of milking the srewed up CEO's pay, the minister milks the citizens like u and me, who are helpless and LL.
Remembered the screwed up SPH get $1.85m for the annual salary package which does not include the shares options when she left SMRT.
SMRT screwed up the bus service, instead of taking away the route from the company, they asked SBST and private operators to help up.
Wander if it will be a difference story is the subject is Woodlands Transport and other small operators with no connection with Temasek, will it be sorry your company has failed to provide essential service to the public and we need to take back the routes to penalise you.?
The fact of life is that they are going for the easiest solution in the book without doing proper cost analysis and control.
With such simpleton in control, expect more increase in fares with no improvement in the essential service.
Same as 3G, if the coverage is crap, why we are paying for 4G ??
This is what you get when you employed military men with no commercial experience to perform a job that required real business knowledge.
They are still trying to fix a round hole with a square plug by employing more inexperienced military men instead of people with transportation experience.
If they say affordable, then affordable lor.
hdb is affordable.
coe is affordable.
your cai png is also affordable.
