Easy any ad hoc chartered all use either PA Lance or bus plus not SMB buses..Stop RWS service and let other Bus co run..That extra few buses on RWS can simply introduce a new short haul svc from SBW
See their annual report, you can see the difference/standard.
One is from word converted to PDF and the otherone is printed out in paper and scanned in fax or scanner then uploaded to SGX.
Heard still finding for the spokes person for the company. Looks like the Australian PR also dont want to take up the role. It speaks a lot of the company.

SMRTB should have allocated their resources to provide at least 2 basic trunk bus services for Sembawang, instead of wasting resources for shuttle bus services and RWS services.
RWS bus services can be better off managed by Sentosa instead since they have their own fleet of buses. RWS could also run these services since they have their own bus fleet too.

I would be more than content if they just let off the RWS and introduce at least a short trunk from Sembawang to Bukit Batok

Extend 180 to Sembawang..

180 already have a hard time coping with demand and stuck at traffic along Bt Panjang rd there...171 can extend to sembawang or even 857

The 3 star did mention that SMRT wants to keep SMRTB, but it’s challenging…
That's besides the point.
Obviously he cannot choose whether to keep SMRTB or not!

857 can't even cope with the demand these days, especially during peak hours. It is one of the best candidates to use double deckers if SMRTB decides to acquire double deckers.
171 is already long enough, extending it further only makes things worse.
Extend 178 to Sembawang would be better since it's demand is so low. It also provides a bus link to Bukit Batok to Sembawang. It can be shorten to Bukit Batok instead.

However if SMRTB continues to be in the red for the next 3 to 5 years, it makes more business sense that SMRT Corp. to give up its bus operations instead.
Give up to who?
The govt will not intervene.
Or should I also add that the govt might very well block a merger between SBST and SMRTB.
And which outside entity will take over?
Hahahaha!!

Govt has always been intervening with the bus operations.
Look how they messed up NorthWest bus services by stealing them from SBS to TIBS and now screwed up by SMRTB.
If no possible party to take over, might as well give bac to SBST. Anyway, the "so called" competition is virtually inexistent.
Are those who are watching have the same response as me?

It is non-existent because it doesnt really make much sense to compete here...
The mix of regulation and free market known as the tender process works for larger markets, but not ours, where inter-zonal connectivity isn't really something we are used to.
Sad to say, if prices are not the way to compete, as in the case here, service differentiation = buy bendy not DD?
*sniff*
One step forward to start better integrating our bus services rather than separating by zones which would cause differing demand conditions amongst other things, would be fleet standardisation.
There, SMRT now has the chance to do something.
Will they?
Perhaps,
Perhaps not.
I still hope the 3 star can do something about it, but I'm not too hopeful.

If the new CEO really cares, he should give up the bus operations if it continues to be in the red for the nest 3 to 5 years and fully concentrate in providing good services in its rail and cab operations. SMRT still can run Bus Plus mini bus services.

Like I said, it is not even an option.
Guys, prepare your popcorns......

Those kids who stubbornly refuse to read, refuse to look at things on another angle now tell ppl bring out pop corn???
This is strange indeed…
Never mind… so ppl like to even go to the point poke saying 170 cannot use Citaro.. when in reality the types of passenger that takes 170 makes Citaro an liability than an asset….
Never seen atas Citaro can cope w/ 10+ luggage per trip…
I always made to my point many months back.
Bus for SBST only
Rail for SMRT only
Anyway, just ignore some of those people. They don't even know what is being discussed. Just know how to screw facts and twist logics to their own whimsical ideas.

I think the original intention to create a more seamless experience through cross-modal integration was something applaudable.
But there have been contradictory things that have negated the shine.
1) Why the expensive hybrid concession?
2) Conflict of interest.
How to solve now?

That is why multi-modal framework doesn't work in the first place? Especially for smaller scale markets like bus and rail. Cabs are still all right as the market is bigger and way of operations in unique and not limited.
Splitting the operations between the 2 companies will be a better option, bus/light rail for SBST and rail for SMRT. There won't be a conflict of interest for sure.
As for the problem of the expensive hybrid system, seriously, it is either the way they managed (or the wrong way) which incurs more costs due to conflict of interests or LTA and PTC have been deceiving the general public.
