Actually it is not that they do not want to make both 178 and 853 WAB but I do not think they would make them as priorities first.
Look at the fleets now. Most probably if TIB438D of 178 and TIB426M of AM/YI 853 goes waiting for DR I do not think they will replace it with a new bus. Furthermore AM always seem reluctant to take in MANs which is why it is a no-go.

Actually Amdep maintain MANs better than Wldep probably cause there's only a few units there.I notice Wldep maintenance are getting more crappier than before..854 Wldep fleets are the worse Ive ever notice..

Not really worth it to go AMDEP and see for yourself. I mean it is hidden and tucked away in a corner and I won't recommend you to waste your time.

Why other depot buses kept sending their buses to WLDEP for maintenance(sometimes)? Didn't the depot itself have their own maintenance people?
Find that the no. of maintenace work at WLDEP is a lot, there's coach buses, taxi etc., like no time for their own buses maintenance. 1 issue requires at least a week to solve.
Anyway, AMDEP maintenance better meh? Their buses air con super weak for more than months(example : TIB811J), readers falling apart unnecessary(Lance and 136C), air-con having algaes(on Citaro) etc.

AMDEP mainteance seems to be the worst. I recently took SMB136C, and the white interior has became very dirty, while the Mercedes logo of some seat struts is gone, screw covers of the handrails gone, and some ceiling panel separating the roof panels are gone too. The only improvement I saw was the torn fabric seats sewed back together.

Their aircon also cui max :/ Same conditions like TIB811J. But I think SMRT either lack of maintenance space or people, or else lazy workers or even less strict punishment... -

The far worst one I've seen is from KJDEP. Their MAN always get shiny rims-yes, but their OCs, like 133K whom went over to KJDEP from WLDEP, damn cui. The headlights pop out, algaes forming, and even the new 388S's wing mirror cover removed.
